This is our Best Value choice in Berkeley. It has 4 official stars and a guest score of 8.6 out of 10 from 197 reviews, joint 2nd of the 6 properties we compared.
It suits visitors without a car who want to reach the university and the BART station on foot. Guests also like the staff. The property lists a gym, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
Skip it if you are driving and want to park yourself, because guests note there is valet service and no self-parking. Skip it also if you want a pool, a spa or a restaurant, as none are listed.
Location and getting around
The address is 1499 University Ave. Guests say it is within walking distance of UC Berkeley, the BART station and local restaurants. The location score is 8.7.
Walking times are straight-line estimates. Sather Tower is 2.2 km, about 28 minutes on foot. California Memorial Stadium is 2.8 km, about 35 minutes, which is far enough that public transport or a taxi may suit you better. The Oakland Museum of California is 8.2 km, about 103 minutes, so you will need transport for that one.
If you arrive by car, budget for valet parking. We do not have its price.
What guests say
Location is the main draw. Being able to walk to the university, the BART station and restaurants comes up often.
Staff get good marks too. Guests describe a friendly, efficient team that is quick to help.
Parking is the main complaint. Valet service is available, but guests point out that self-parking is not.
Price and value against our other two picks
Our reference price was €187.13 a night, about €374 for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room. It is a reference price, not a live quote. Check today's price for your dates.
The Berkeley sample median was €187.93 a night, so this hotel sat almost exactly at the typical rate.
Our Budget pick, Holiday Inn Express Berkeley by IHG, was €150.25 a night with a 9.0 score and free parking. Our Luxury pick, Claremont Resort & Club, was €424.53 with 5 stars and an 8.4 score. Aiden costs about €37 a night more than the Holiday Inn Express. That extra buys a fourth star and a shorter walk to campus, but not a higher guest score.
Breakfast details are not confirmed in our data, so check whether your rate includes it.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 6 eligible properties in Berkeley. Our Best Value slot balances guest score, review count and price, and it does not have to be the cheapest. Aiden pairs 4 stars and an 8.6 score with a median price and a walkable location.
Friendly staff and the short walk to BART and campus support the pick.
