Home › How we choose

How we choose the three.

The same transparent rules in every city. No hotel can pay to be included.

1. The sample

For each destination we take the hotels Booking.com returns for the same reference stay: two adults, one room, two mid-week nights in November 2026. For major destinations we use up to 40 hotels closest to the centre, so every pick is well located.

2. Eligibility

A hotel needs a real track record: at least 15 guest reviews and a guest score of 7.0 or more (8.0 for large samples). When a city has enough proper hotels, private apartments are left out.

3. The three picks

  • Budget — the lowest eligible reference price.
  • Best Value — the strongest review-confidence score at or near the sample's median price. Review confidence weighs the score by the number of reviews, so a 9.4 from 4,000 guests beats a 9.8 from 12.
  • Luxury — the best-reviewed five-star hotel. If no five-star qualifies, a four-star rated 8.5+ is shown and clearly labelled as an upscale alternative.

4. What we show for each hotel

Guest score and review count, reference price, star classification, location score, what guests praise and criticise, facilities, walking time to the best-known sights (straight-line estimate) and who the hotel suits best.

5. Freshness and corrections

Every page shows when prices were checked. Prices are reference rates, not live quotes; the booking link always shows the current price for your dates. Spotted something wrong? carlos@equinoxinvestmentgroup.com. We aim to review corrections within a few working days.

6. Independence

Some links earn us a commission. That never changes the selection, the order or the text. Hotels cannot buy placement, badges or reviews.
