Best Western Merrion is our Best Value pick in Amritsar. It fits travellers who want proper hotel facilities, a quieter base and a price well under the city median. Staff get good comments, which matters if you need help arranging your days.
Pilgrims and first-time visitors who want to walk to the Golden Temple should look at our Budget pick instead. Light sleepers or anyone sensitive to smells should read the cleanliness note below before deciding.
Location and getting around
The hotel is at 45,District Shopping complex,B-Block,Ranjit Avenue. The location score is 9.2 out of 10, and guests describe the area as quiet.
Durgiana Temple is the nearest measured sight, about 1.3 km away or roughly 16 minutes on foot. The Golden Temple is about 3.7 km away, an estimated 46 minutes, and Jallianwala Bagh about 3.9 km, an estimated 49 minutes. Those last two are far on foot, so plan on public transport or a taxi. All walking times are straight-line estimates.
What guests say
The score is 8.4 out of 10 from 160 guest reviews, which placed it sixth of 12 eligible properties. That is a decent score, though the lowest of our three Amritsar picks.
Guests like the staff, describing a polite, efficient and attentive team and a warm welcome. They also like the quiet location.
The weak point is cleanliness. Many rooms are reported as clean, but some guests mention unpleasant smells, dirty carpets or pests. Ask for a different room straight away if yours is not right.

The reference price was €51.16 a night, seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room. It is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates. The sample median was €96.63, so this was 47% below the median.

Our Luxury pick, Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Raja Sansi, Amritsar, was €102 a night with a score of 8.9 and five stars, but about 13.2 km from the temple. The Merrion sits in the middle on price and distance.

Why it made our top 3
We compared 12 eligible hotels in Amritsar. The Best Value slot balances guest score, the number of reviews and the reference price, so it is not simply the cheapest option. The Merrion offered four stars and a full set of facilities at about half the median price, with a respectable 8.4 score.
Before you book
Check whether breakfast is in your rate and read the cancellation terms. Confirm pool and gym opening times and any fees. Given the cleanliness comments, read the most recent reviews and consider asking the hotel for a recently refreshed room. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed.
