Best Western Plus Hôtel D'Angleterre - Centre historique is worth booking if you want the best-rated hotel in Bourges in our sample, about 5 minutes from the cathedral, at a price close to the city median. Skip it if you are driving a large car, as guests say the garage is tight and the one-way streets are tricky.

Couples and families who want to explore the historic centre on foot are the natural fit. The 4-star hotel scores 8.7 out of 10 from 1,264 reviews, and its location score is 9.5. It lists a gym, family rooms, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, and is tagged as pet friendly; check the pet policy and any fee with the hotel.
Drivers should read the parking notes carefully. Those who expect five-star extras such as a spa will not find them in our data: our Luxury slot goes to five-star hotels first, and a four-star hotel can take it only with a score of at least 8.5, as this one does.
Location and getting around
The address is 1 Place Des 4-Piliers, in the historic centre. Bourges Cathedral is about 0.4 km away, roughly 5 minutes on foot as a straight-line estimate that has not been checked.
Guests also mention the Palais Jacques Coeur nearby, though our data does not give a distance. Getting in by car is the harder part: guests describe one-way streets around the hotel.
What guests say
The setting is what guests like most: central, in the historic district, near the cathedral and the Palais Jacques Coeur. Staff come next, described as friendly and professional with a warm welcome.
Parking is the main complaint. There is a secure garage, but guests say the spaces are tight and reaching it through one-way streets is difficult.
Price and what you get compared with our other picks
Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 (10 to 12 November, 2 adults, one room) were about €123 per night, about 4% below the sample median of roughly €128. That is unusual for a Luxury pick. These are not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Budget pick, Ace Hotel Bourges, was about €83 per night with a score of 8.3 and 3 stars. The Best Value pick, Logis - Le Christina, was about €108 with an 8.6 score and 3 stars. D'Angleterre costs about €15 more per night than Le Christina, and for that you get the fourth star, the top guest score in the sample and a location 5 minutes from the cathedral.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 8 eligible hotels in Bourges. D'Angleterre shares the top guest score among them and holds an official 4-star rating. Five-star hotels get priority for the Luxury slot; this four-star hotel took it as a fallback by clearing our 8.5 threshold.
Before you book
Room size, noise, renovation condition, whether breakfast is included and cancellation terms are not confirmed in our data. Breakfast is listed as continental; check your rate.
If you drive, ask the hotel for directions to the garage, the parking fee and whether you need to reserve a space. Gym hours are not confirmed either.
