This is a sensible base for couples, short city breaks and families who want to walk to the main sights. The property lists family rooms, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour front desk, which covers the basics for most trips.
Travellers who need space should think twice. Guests say some units are spacious but the standard rooms can feel small. If you plan to spend long hours in the room or travel with a lot of luggage, check the room size before you pay.
Location and getting around
The address is 1 Place De La République, in Caen City Centre. Its location score is 9.5, the strongest point in the data. Guests mention shops, restaurants and parking close by.
Château de Caen is about 0.5 km away, roughly 6 minutes on foot. The Abbey of Saint-Étienne is around 0.7 km, about 9 minutes. These walking times are straight-line estimates, so real routes may take a little longer.
Pegasus Bridge is a different story. At about 9.3 km it is far, close to two hours on foot, so plan on public transport or a taxi if it is on your list.
What guests say
The score is 8.4 out of 10 from 684 reviews. Two themes come up most often in praise: the central setting on Place de la République and a friendly, helpful team at the desk.
The main complaint is room size. Some guests describe the standard rooms as small or tight, while others got more space. Nothing in the data covers noise, renovation condition or cancellation terms, so treat those as unknowns.
Price and how it compares with our other Caen picks
The reference price was €89.15 per night, about €178 for two nights for 2 adults in one room. These are reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
That figure was 37% below the sample median of €140.43 a night. Our Best Value pick, ibis Styles Caen centre gare, scored slightly higher at 8.6 and cost €116.73. The Luxury pick, Hotel Ivan Vautier, a 5-star property, scored the same 8.4 at €141.20. You give up a little score and star rating here, but you save around €27 to €52 a night.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 9 eligible properties in Caen. This one had the lowest eligible reference price once the upscale slot was set aside, and its review score placed it joint fifth of the nine.
A 3-star hotel with a 9.5 location score and a price well under the median is a fair deal for a city this size. That combination is what earned it the Budget slot.
