Crowne Plaza Barranquilla by IHG is worth booking if you want a 5-star base in Riomar with a spa, a pool and malls and restaurants nearby. You will need taxis for most sights, and breakfast can feel crowded, so it suits comfort over sightseeing.

Who it suits and who should skip it

This is our Luxury pick in Barranquilla. It suits business travellers and couples who want full facilities: a spa, a gym, a pool, a restaurant, a terrace and free parking are all listed. Families can also look here, as family rooms are listed. Guests say the district feels safe, with shopping malls and restaurants close by.

Skip it if you want to walk to the city's sights. Everything in our distance data is 40 minutes or more on foot. And if price is the deciding factor, our other two picks cost a fraction of this one.

Location and getting around

The address is Carrera 57 No 99A-65, in Riomar. Guests rate the location 9.5 out of 10, mainly for the nearby malls and restaurants and the sense of safety.

For sightseeing, distances are long. Sinagoga Shaare Sedek is about 3.2 km away, roughly 40 minutes on foot. Queen Mary Cathedral is 5.1 km away, about 64 minutes, and the Laureano Gómez bridge is 10.9 km away, about 136 minutes. All three are far, so plan on taxis or public transport. Times are straight-line estimates.

What guests say

The score is 8.6 out of 10 from 580 reviews. In the provider sample it sits joint fourth of 9 eligible properties by review score.

Guests praise a friendly, professional team that gives helpful and attentive service. They also like being close to shopping malls and restaurants in what they describe as a safe district.

The main complaint is breakfast. The buffet has tasty options and good variety, but the dining area is small and gets crowded. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed.

Price and what you get compared with our other picks

Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults were about €121.27 per night, well above the sample median of about €68.18. These are not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.

Hotel Prado 72 INN, our Budget pick, was about €33.99 per night with 4 stars and an 8.4 score. Hotel Casa Colonial, our Best Value pick, was about €43.77 per night with 3 stars and a 9.0 score.

So you pay close to three times as much as Hotel Casa Colonial, which also scores higher with guests. What the extra money buys is a fifth star, a spa, a pool, a gym, free parking and a buffet breakfast. If you will use those facilities, the premium makes sense. If you mainly need a bed, the cheaper picks are strong.

Why it made our top 3

We compared 9 eligible hotels in Barranquilla. Our Luxury slot puts 5-star hotels first, and this hotel has 5 official stars, an 8.6 score and a 9.5 location rating. That combination earned it the place.
