This is our Luxury pick for Hull. No five-star hotel qualified, so the slot went to a four-star that met our 8.5 minimum score. It suits rail travellers, business visitors and anyone who wants a gym, air conditioning and a full breakfast buffet. Family rooms are listed, and our data tags it as pet-friendly; check pet rules and fees directly.
Cost-conscious travellers may want to skip it. Guests say the room rates are reasonable but extras add up, with water, parking and breakfast singled out as expensive.
Location and getting around
The hotel is on Ferensway. Guests rate the location 9 out of 10 and describe it as central, near the train station, theatres and city centre shops.
By our straight-line estimates, Hull Minster is 1.1 km away, about 14 minutes on foot, and the Arctic Corsair is 1.4 km, about 18 minutes. The Humber Bridge is 8.2 km away, roughly 103 minutes on foot, which is far. Use public transport or a taxi for that trip.
What guests say
The score is 8.5 out of 10 from 2,003 reviews, the largest review base of our three Hull picks. On review score it shared position 3 of 5 eligible properties.
Staff get the most praise: a friendly, helpful and professional team that gives a warm welcome. The location near the station is the other plus. The main complaint is value. Rooms feel fairly priced to many guests, but charges for water, parking and breakfast are described as high.
Price against our other two Hull picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, 10 to 12 November for 2 adults in one room, was €157.40 per night, against a sample median of €137.09. Treat it as a reference, not a live quote, and check today's price for your dates.
Kingston Theatre Hotel, our Best Value pick, was €137.09 with a 9.2 score and 3 stars. Village Hotel Hull, the Budget pick, was €131.72 with 8.2 and 4 stars. So Doubletree costs about €20 more a night than Kingston Theatre for a lower guest score. What you gain is the fourth star, a gym and a location by the station.
Facilities listed include a gym, a restaurant, a terrace, free Wi-Fi, family rooms and air conditioning. Breakfast is listed as Full English/Irish and buffet. Breakfast inclusion in your rate is not confirmed, and guests say it costs extra, so budget for it.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 5 hotels in Hull. Our Luxury slot prioritises five-star hotels, and a four-star fallback has to score at least 8.5. Doubletree met that bar with a big review sample behind it, which gives the rating weight.
