Dukes' Palace is our Luxury pick for Bruges. It suits couples on a special weekend, families who want family rooms and on-site facilities, and anyone who wants a quiet, central base within a short walk of the main square.
Skip it if surprise extras put you off. Guests consider the room rates fair, but say parking, spa access and breakfast carry high fees. Travellers who will not use the spa or gym get less from the price gap.
Location and getting around
The address is Prinsenhof 8, in the Bruges Historic Center. Guests describe a central yet quiet setting, a short walk from the main square, shops and restaurants. The location score is 9.8 out of 10.
By straight-line estimate, the Church of Our Lady and the Basilica of the Holy Blood are each about 0.5 km away, roughly 6 minutes on foot. The Groeningemuseum is about 0.6 km, around 8 minutes. These walking times have not been verified.
Parking exists according to guest comments, but it is described as expensive. If you are driving, ask for the current rate before you arrive.
What guests say
The score is 9.2 out of 10 from 3,999 reviews. Among the 7 eligible Bruges properties we compared, it shared first place on review score.
The setting gets the most praise: central and quiet, close to the square. Guests also mention a friendly, professional team that gives a warm and helpful welcome.
The main complaint concerns value on extras. Room rates are seen as fair, but fees for parking, the spa and breakfast are considered high. Factor these into your budget from the start.
Price and what you get against our other Bruges picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults was €263.40 per night. The Bruges sample median was €155.20, so this is about 70% above it. It is not a live quote. Check today's price for your dates.
Our Budget pick, Flanders Hotel, came in at €130.40 with an 8.6 score. Our Best Value pick, Canal View Hotel Ter Brughe by CW Hotel Collection, was €138 with a 9.0 score. Both are 4-star hotels.
For roughly €125 more per night than the Best Value pick, you get 5 stars, a spa and wellness centre, a gym, a restaurant, a garden and a terrace, plus family rooms, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Breakfast options listed are gluten-free and buffet, and guests say breakfast is charged at a high rate unless it is in your booking.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 7 eligible properties in Bruges, a smaller sample than in many cities. Our Luxury slot gives priority to officially rated five-star hotels. Dukes' Palace qualified and also shared the top review score in the sample, backed by nearly 4,000 reviews.
Before you book
Room size, noise, renovation condition, breakfast inclusion and cancellation terms have not been assessed. Compare a rate with breakfast against one without, since guests find the breakfast fee high.
Ask about spa access charges and opening times, and confirm the parking rate if you are coming by car.
