This is our Best Value pick in Doncaster. It suits drivers, race-day visitors and anyone who wants a quiet base close to town. Free parking and family rooms are listed by the property, and the listing tags it as pet-friendly.
It is less suited to travellers on a tight budget. The rate was above the city median, and guests flag breakfast and bar prices as high. If you plan to eat and drink in the hotel, factor that in.
Location and getting around
The address is on Bennetthorpe. The location score is 9.2, and guests describe a quiet spot within a ten-minute walk of the town centre and the racecourse.
Doncaster Minster is 1.3 km away, about 16 minutes on foot. The other two sights in our data are far. Conisbrough Castle is 8.1 km, about 101 minutes, and Brodsworth Hall is 8.9 km, about 111 minutes. For both you will need a car, public transport or a taxi.
Walking times are straight-line estimates, so real routes can take longer.
What guests say
The score is 8.8 out of 10 from 1,096 reviews. That placed it joint second on review score among the 4 properties we compared.
Staff get the clearest praise. Reviewers describe a friendly, helpful and welcoming team that gives attentive service. Location is the second strong point, with the quiet setting and short walk into town mentioned often.
The complaint is about extras rather than rooms. Guests consider the room rates reasonable, but breakfast and bar costs are seen as high.
Price and what you get, compared with our other two picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 (10 to 12 Nov, 2 adults, one room) was €111.91 per night, about €224 for both nights. The sample median was €98.21, so this hotel sat above it. These are not live quotes. Check today's price for your dates.
Our Budget pick, Owston Hall Hotel, scored the same 8.8 at €74.59 per night, but it is a 3-star property. Our Luxury pick, Best Western Premier Doncaster Mount Pleasant Hotel, scored 9.1 at €157.37. The Earl Of Doncaster sits between them as a 4-star option close to the centre.
Listed facilities include free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, a terrace, free parking, family rooms and air conditioning. Breakfast styles listed are continental, full English or Irish, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and buffet. Whether breakfast is included in your rate is not confirmed, and guests say it is pricey when paid separately.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 4 eligible properties in Doncaster, a small sample. This one balanced a high score, over 1,000 reviews and a mid-range price. It is not the cheapest. It earns its place through location and service rather than price.
Before you book
Compare a rate with breakfast against one without, given the comments on breakfast cost. Confirm free parking for your dates and the pet policy if relevant. Room size, noise, renovation condition and cancellation terms have not been assessed, so read those details before paying. On race days, check prices early, as rates may differ from our reference.
