This is our Best Value pick in Kandy. It suits couples and families who want a calm base with views, a pool and a spa, and who will use taxis or a driver to see the city.
It is not for travellers who want to stroll to the main sights or go out in town in the evening without arranging transport. Everything in our data is a long way from the hotel.
Location and getting around
The address is Kandy No.200/3, Sunflower garden, Meewaladeniya, Handessa. Guests give the location 8.7/10, and many praise the panoramic views over the mountains and surrounding jungle.
Distances are the main tradeoff. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya, are about 5.6 km away, roughly 70 minutes on foot. The Temple of the Tooth is about 10.2 km and the National Museum of Kandy about 10.3 km, each over two hours walking. These are straight-line estimates, and all three are far. Budget for a taxi or public transport every time you head out.
Free parking is listed, which helps if you have a car or a driver.
What guests say
The hotel scores 9.4/10 from 912 reviews, joint first of the 13 eligible hotels we compared in Kandy.
Guests describe the team as friendly, professional and attentive, with a warm welcome. The views are the other big theme.
The main criticism is value beyond the room. Rates are seen as reasonable, but some guests find the dining and extra services expensive. Since you will probably eat at the hotel more often given the distance from town, factor that in.
Price and what you get, against our other two picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults was €47.72 a night, about €95 for both nights. That is 57% below the sample median of €111.17. It is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
The property lists a spa, pool, restaurant, free parking, family rooms, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a garden and a terrace. Breakfast options listed include Continental, Full English, vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free, Asian, American, buffet and breakfast to go. Fees and opening hours are not confirmed.
Our Budget pick, Kings Grove, was €37.04 a night with 9.0/10 and 3 stars. Our Luxury pick, The Golden Crown Hotel, was €121.37 a night with 9.3/10 and 5 stars. Elegant Hotel scores higher than both and costs about €11 a night more than the Budget pick.
