Grand Hotel Timeo, A Belmond Hotel, Taormina is worth booking if you want the top rated hotel in our Taormina sample, one minute from the Ancient theatre, and the budget is not a concern. At about €1,110 a night on our reference dates, everyone else should look at our Best Value pick first.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

This is for travellers who want full five-star facilities right next to Taormina's main sight. The property lists a spa and wellness centre, a gym, a pool, a restaurant, a garden, a terrace, family rooms, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Pets appear in its tags, but the policy must be checked with the hotel.

Skip it if price matters at all. It cost roughly three times the city median on our reference dates. The guest score is excellent, but it rests on 173 reviews, a much smaller sample than our other two Taormina picks.

Location and getting around

The address is Teatro Greco 59, in the City Centre area. Its location score is 9.9.

The Ancient theatre of Taormina is about 0.1 km away, roughly 1 minute on foot. Palazzo Corvaja is about 0.3 km, around 4 minutes. These are straight-line estimates, and Taormina is hilly, so allow a little extra time. A beach appears in the provider's facility data, but that does not confirm a beachfront location or any walking distance to the sea, so ask the hotel how beach access works.

What guests say

Our data does not include a summary of what guests like or dislike here. The overall figure is strong: 9.7 out of 10, the highest of the 12 hotels we compared.

With only 173 reviews and no detailed themes, read recent reviews before you commit. Look especially at room size, noise and the condition of the rooms, which we have not assessed. Listed breakfast styles are Continental, Italian, Full English/Irish, American and buffet.

Price and how it compares with our other Taormina picks

We saw a reference price of €1,110 per night for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults, about €2,220 for both nights. The sample median was €365.70. These are reference prices, not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.

Hotel Bel Soggiorno, our Best Value pick, was €163.22 per night with a score of 9.0. Hotel Ariston and Palazzo Santa Caterina, our Budget pick, was €103.15 per night with a score of 8.3. The Timeo costs almost seven times as much as Bel Soggiorno for a 0.7-point higher score, so you are paying for the facilities and the address.

Why it made our top 3

We compared 12 eligible hotels in Taormina. Grand Hotel Timeo holds an official 5-star rating, which our Luxury slot prioritises, and it ranked first on guest score in the sample. No other hotel on our list combined both.

Before you book

Ask whether breakfast is included at this price, and read the cancellation terms closely given the amount involved.

Confirm the opening times of the pool, spa and gym in November, and any fees. If the beach matters to you, ask exactly how guests get there. Pet owners should confirm the policy in writing.
