This is our Budget pick for Alexandria, a 3-star hotel on Richmond Highway. It suits families (family rooms are listed), travellers who want a dependable breakfast before a long day, and people bringing a pet, since pets appear in the property tags. The gym and pool help on longer stays.
It is a weaker choice if you want to stroll out of the door into sightseeing. The monuments in our data are all around 10 km away. Drivers should also factor in the daily parking charge that guests mention.
Location and getting around
The address is 5821 Richmond Highway, and the location score is 8.4. Our data does not give a verified walking time to Old Town Alexandria, so check that distance yourself.
Nationals Park is 10 km away (about 125 minutes on foot as a straight-line estimate), the Jefferson Memorial is 10.2 km (about 128 minutes) and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial is 10.6 km (about 133 minutes). All of these are far, so you will need public transport, a taxi or a car to reach them. Guests mention daily parking charges, so budget for that if you drive.
What guests say
The score is 8.4 out of 10 from 1,447 reviews, a large and steady sample. Guests praise a friendly, helpful and welcoming team and a smooth check-in.
Breakfast earns specific praise: a hot, varied spread with eggs, sausage, fruit and a waffle station. The main complaint is cost creep. Room rates are seen as reasonable, but daily parking charges push the total up. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed.
Price and what you get compared with our other picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults was €136.05 per night, about 27% below the sample median of €185.74. These are reference prices, not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Best Value pick, The Westin Alexandria Old Town, was €180.10 a night with a score of 8.8 at 4 stars. Our Luxury pick, Archer Hotel Old Town Alexandria, was €188.00, also 8.8 at 4 stars. The Hampton saves about €44 a night against the Westin, or around €88 over two nights, before parking. The other two have Old Town in their names, which may matter if you want that area.
Listed facilities are a gym, a pool, family rooms, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Breakfast options listed are continental, American, buffet and breakfast to go. Whether breakfast is included in your rate is not confirmed.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 10 eligible hotels in Alexandria. The Hampton had the lowest eligible reference price once the upscale choice was set aside, and its review score sits joint fifth of 10 with nearly 1,500 reviews behind it. Low price plus a solid, well-supported score fits the Budget slot.
Before you book
Ask the daily parking fee and add it to your total. Check that breakfast is included in your rate. Confirm the pet policy and fees if you bring an animal. Work out how you will reach Old Town and Washington. Read the cancellation terms, which we have not assessed.
