Hotel Benavides
By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.
Hotel Benavides is an easy yes for budget travellers who want a well-rated room close to the historic centre of Arequipa, plus staff who pack food for early tours. Light sleepers should request a room facing the park, since rooms near the avenue pick up traffic noise.

Hotel Benavides is our Budget pick in Arequipa. It suits backpackers, couples and families on a tight budget, especially anyone heading out on early tours. Guests say staff prepare packed food for early departures and offer luggage storage.
Skip it if you need a full-service hotel. The data lists free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, family rooms, a garden and a terrace, but no restaurant, pool or gym. Light sleepers should also think twice, unless they can secure a room away from the avenue.
Location and getting around
The address is Pasaje Selva Alegre 106_A, Cercado, in the Historical Center. The location score is 8.8. By straight-line estimate, the Monastery of Santa Catalina de Siena is 0.6 km away, about 8 minutes on foot. The Basilica Cathedral of Arequipa is 0.8 km, about 10 minutes, and the Historic Centre of Arequipa is 1 km, about 13 minutes.
All of these are a short walk. The times are estimates and have not been verified, so check routes on a map.
What guests say
The score is 8.8 out of 10 from 954 reviews. Staff get the most praise, for packed food on tour days and for luggage storage. Breakfast is the other highlight: a rooftop buffet with eggs, avocado, fresh fruit and waffles.
The main complaint is noise. Rooms facing the park are described as peaceful, but those near the avenue hear traffic. Ask for a park-facing room when you book.
Price and what you get compared with our other picks
Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, for 2 adults, came to €25.37 per night, about €51 for both nights. That is 59% below the sample median of €61.24. These are not live quotes; check today's price for your dates.
Our Best Value pick, Hotel Los Tambos Boutique, is also 3 stars, scored 9.2 and cost €61.30 a night. Our Luxury pick, Wyndham Costa del Sol Arequipa, is a 5-star hotel scoring 9.2 at €152.95. Both score higher, but Benavides costs less than half of Los Tambos. For many travellers, a 0.4-point difference will not be worth €36 a night.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 11 eligible properties in Arequipa. For the Budget slot we take the lowest eligible reference price after reserving the upscale choice, and Benavides came in at €25.37. It shared eighth place on guest score, so it is not the top-rated hotel in town, but an 8.8 from 954 reviews at this price is strong.
