This is our Best Value pick for St. Gallen. It suits first-time visitors who want to explore the Old Town on foot, culture-focused weekenders and travellers who like the idea of a hotel run on a social integration concept, which guests mention in their reviews. Family rooms are listed, and pets are listed as accepted, though conditions and fees are not confirmed.
Skip it if you are counting every euro. The reference price was above the city median, and some guests say the cost feels high. Also look elsewhere if you need a spa, pool or gym, as none are listed here.
Location and getting around
The address is Webergasse 22. Location is the clear strength: guests rate it 9.8 out of 10.
The Abbey library of Saint Gall and St. Gallen Cathedral are about 0.1 km away, around 1 minute on foot. The Abbey of Saint Gall is 0.2 km, about 3 minutes. Guests also describe the hotel as close to the train station, which helps if you arrive by rail.
These walking times are straight-line estimates and have not been verified on the ground.
What guests say
The score is 9.0 out of 10 from 1,115 reviews, joint first of the 5 eligible properties we compared.
Two themes stand out. First, the central setting in the Old Town near the Abbey and the station. Second, the staff, described as friendly, helpful and professional, working within a social integration concept.
Opinions split on value. Some reviewers call the rates reasonable, while others think the cost is high for what they got. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed by us, so read recent reviews on those points.
Price compared with our other St. Gallen picks
The reference price was €258.86 a night, about €518 for two nights. It is the reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room, not a live quote. Check today's price for your dates.
The sample median was €222.87 a night, so this hotel sat a little above it. Our Budget pick, B&B HOTEL St Gallen, was €109.05 a night with a score of 8.2, but it is about 25 minutes on foot from the Abbey. Our Luxury pick, Oberwaid, was €281.10 a night with a score of 8.9, a spa and a pool, but it is around 4.5 km from the centre.
Hotel Dom costs about €22 a night less than Oberwaid and has the higher score and far better position for sightseeing. Against the Budget pick you pay around €150 more per night mainly for location and guest rating.
