Hôtel du Palois Pau Centre Bosquet is our Best Value pick in Pau. It holds 4 stars and a guest score of 8.3 from 2,354 reviews.
It suits drivers, since free parking is listed and guests describe a secure, gated courtyard with covered spaces. Families can look at it too, because family rooms are listed. Couples who want to walk to the old town in the evening will also find it practical.
Skip it if decor is a priority. The main complaint in guest feedback is dated interiors, and some guests question whether the hotel matches its star rating. If you want a polished, newer feel, our Luxury pick is the more obvious choice, at a higher price.
Location and getting around
The address is 80 rue Emile Garet Centre Bosquet. Guests rate the location 9 out of 10 and describe a quiet street a short walk from the historic centre and local restaurants.
By our straight-line estimates, the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Pau is about 0.1 km away, roughly 1 minute on foot. The Château de Pau is about 1 km, around 13 minutes walking.
Lescar Cathedral is a different matter. It sits about 6.8 km away, roughly 85 minutes on foot, so it is far. Plan on public transport, a taxi or your own car for that trip.
What guests say
Two themes stand out in positive feedback. The first is the location: a quiet street, close to the centre and to places to eat. The second is parking, described as secure and gated with plenty of spaces and some covered sections.
The negative theme is value. Guests call the rates competitive, but dated interiors lead some to doubt the 4-star label. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed, so read recent reviews for the room type you plan to book.
Breakfast options listed are continental and buffet. Whether breakfast is included in your rate is not confirmed.
Price and how it compares with our other Pau picks
The reference price we saw was €107.76 a night, about €215.52 for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults. That was 12% below the sample median of €122.07. These are reference prices, not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Budget pick, Appart'City Confort Pau Centre, came in at €89.84 a night with a higher score of 8.5 and 3 stars. Our Luxury pick, Parc Beaumont Hôtel & Spa Pau - MGallery Collection, was €181.04 a night with 9.1 and 5 stars.
So this hotel is about €18 a night more than the Budget pick and about €73 less than the Luxury one. What the extra money buys over the Budget option is mainly a fourth star, free parking and its quiet street, not a better guest score.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 4 eligible hotels in Pau. The Best Value slot balances guest score, number of reviews and reference price, and it is not necessarily the cheapest hotel.
This one ranked joint 3rd of 4 on score, but its large review count and below-median price earned it the middle slot. Listed facilities include free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a 24-hour front desk.
