La Palma is our Best Value pick in Stresa. It scores 8.9 out of 10 from 1,768 reviews, the largest review count among our three choices here, and holds 4 stars.
It suits couples and families who want plenty on site. The property lists a gym, a spa, a pool, a restaurant, free parking, family rooms, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a garden and a terrace. It is also tagged as accepting pets, with rules not confirmed.
If room size is a priority, or if you mainly want the lowest price, consider our other picks. The cheapest of the three costs about half as much.
Location and getting around
The address is Corso Umberto I 33. Guests say the hotel sits directly on the lakefront promenade, near the train station, the ferry terminal and the town centre. They give the location 9.7 out of 10.
Giardino Botanico Alpinia is 1.5 km away, around 19 minutes on foot. Giardini Botanici dell'Isola Madre is 2.9 km, about 36 minutes, and Santa Caterina del Sasso is 4.8 km, about 60 minutes. Those two are far, so plan on public transport or a taxi. Walking times are straight-line estimates.
What guests say
Two things stand out in reviews. The position on the promenade is one. The other is the outlook, which guests describe as spectacular, across Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands. Whether a given room has that outlook is not confirmed, so ask when you book.
The complaint is price relative to space. Guests rate the facilities highly but often feel the prices are high for the size of the rooms.
Price and how it compares with our other Stresa picks
Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, for 2 adults in one room, were €175.50 a night, about €351 for both nights. That is almost exactly the sample median of €175.25. These are not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Budget pick, Residence Villa Maurice, cost €95 a night with a score of 8.0. Our Luxury pick, Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées & SPA, cost €254.50 with 9.1 and 5 stars. La Palma sits in the middle on price and close to the top on score, with a far longer list of facilities than the budget option.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 4 properties in Stresa. The Best Value slot weighs guest score, number of reviews and price, so it is not simply the cheapest. La Palma had the joint second best score, the most reviews and a median price.
Breakfast is another plus on paper: the listed buffet covers continental, Italian, American, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.
Before you book
Room size, noise, renovation condition, breakfast inclusion and cancellation terms have not been assessed. Since size is the main complaint, compare room categories and their listed sizes.
Ask whether your room faces the lake, check pool and spa opening times and any fees, and confirm parking if you drive.
