This is our Budget pick in Óbidos: a 3-star hotel with a guest score of 8.0 out of 10 from 1,851 reviews. It suits couples and families who arrive by car, want to walk up to the castle and town walls, and would rather save money than stay inside the walls.
Free parking, family rooms, a garden and an outdoor pool are listed. Air conditioning is listed too.
Skip it if you want the best-rated stay in town or a strong breakfast. Its score was joint lowest of the 6 hotels we compared, and guests criticise the coffee and the breakfast variety.
Location and getting around
The address is Rua da Antiga Estrada Real Nº 2, Pinhal, and the location score is 9.3 out of 10. The hotel is outside the walls rather than inside the old town.
The Castle of Óbidos is about 0.9 km away, roughly 11 minutes on foot by our straight-line estimate, which has not been verified. Guests describe the walk to the town walls and castle entrance as about five minutes.
With free parking on site, you can leave the car at the hotel and walk into town.
What guests say
Location is the most praised point, with the historic walls and castle entrance a short walk away.
Staff also earn good comments. Guests describe a friendly team that gives helpful service and a warm welcome.
Breakfast is the weak spot. The food is called decent, but guests report poor coffee and limited variety. Listed styles are Continental and buffet. Room size, noise, renovation state and cancellation terms have not been assessed.

Hotel Louro saves you about €33 per night against the cheaper of those two, for a lower score and one star fewer.
For that saving you get free parking, an outdoor pool, a garden, family rooms, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Whether breakfast is included in your rate is not confirmed.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 6 eligible properties in Óbidos. Hotel Louro had the lowest eligible reference price once the upscale choice was set aside, which is how our Budget slot is filled.
Its guest score placed it joint 6th of 6, the bottom of a small field. It earns its place on price, location and a large number of reviews, not on being the best-rated hotel.
Before you book
Check today's price for your dates. Confirm whether breakfast is included; if it is not, budget for breakfast elsewhere.
Ask whether the outdoor pool is open during your stay. Check room size and noise in recent reviews, since we have not assessed them.
