Hotel Moderne is our Budget pick for Arras. It has 3 official stars and scores 8.2 out of 10 from 93 guest reviews. That is a smaller pool of reviews than our other two picks, so treat the score with a little more caution.
It suits travellers arriving by train and people who want to explore the old centre on foot. Guests say the station, the main squares and the markets are a short walk away, and they call the rooms spotless. A 24-hour front desk is listed, which helps with late arrivals.
It is less suited to anyone after hotel extras. The facilities listed are short: free Wi-Fi and the front desk. No gym, spa, restaurant or parking appears in the data, so do not count on them.
Location and getting around
The address is 1, boulevard Faidherbe. The location score is 9.1, one of the strongest points of this hotel.
Walking times are straight-line estimates. Arras Cathedral and the Abbey of Saint-Vaast are both about 0.7 km away, around 9 minutes on foot. The Arras Memorial is 1.5 km, about 19 minutes. Everything in our data is within walking distance.
What guests say
Cleanliness gets the strongest praise: guests describe rooms and shared areas as consistently spotless. Location is the other highlight, with an easy walk to the station, the squares and the markets.
Breakfast divides opinion. It is listed as Continental. Some guests find the quality good, while others mention a lack of variety and few savoury options. If a big cooked breakfast matters, you may prefer a café nearby.
Price and what you get against our other Arras picks
The reference price was €91.40 per night, seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults. That is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Best Value pick, Holiday Inn Express Arras by IHG, was €97.50 per night with a score of 8.6 and 3 stars. Our Luxury pick, Mercure Arras Centre Gare, was €139.30 per night with 8.8 and 4 stars. The Holiday Inn Express costs about €6 more per night and scores higher, so compare both before you book. The Mercure adds a gym, a restaurant and air conditioning for around €48 more per night.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 6 eligible hotels in Arras. Once the upscale pick was set aside, Hotel Moderne had the lowest eligible reference price, about 22% below the sample median of €117.50 per night. On guest score it placed joint sixth of 6, so it wins on price and location rather than rating.
Before you book
Room size, noise, renovation condition, breakfast inclusion and cancellation terms have not been assessed. Parking is not listed, so if you drive, ask the hotel about options nearby.
Air conditioning is not listed either. Check the breakfast terms in your rate, and read recent reviews given the small number of them.
