Hotel Plaza
By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.
Yes, book it if you want the best reviewed hotel in our Salerno sample, a short walk from the historic centre and the seafront. Light sleepers should bring earplugs, since guests report thin walls between rooms.

This is our Best Value choice in Salerno. It suits couples, solo travellers and anyone arriving by train who wants to explore the old town and the seafront on foot.
Skip it if you want a full-service hotel. The facilities listed are short: free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a 24-hour front desk. No restaurant, gym or parking appears in our data. Light sleepers should also think twice because of the walls.
Location and getting around
The address is Piazza Vittorio Veneto (P.zza Ferrovia), 42. Guests say it is steps from the pedestrian zone, the historic centre and the seafront promenade. The location score is 9.7 out of 10, the highest of our three Salerno picks.
By our straight-line estimates, Salerno Cathedral is about 1.1 km away, roughly 14 minutes on foot. Minerva's Garden is about 1.6 km, around 20 minutes. Both are easy walks.
Parking is not listed. If you drive, ask the hotel where to leave the car and what it costs.
What guests say
The hotel scores 9.0 out of 10 from 1,447 reviews and sits joint 1st of the 6 eligible hotels we compared in Salerno.
Two themes stand out. The location, close to everything a visitor wants. And the breakfast, a varied buffet with sweet and savoury options and fresh coffee from 7 am. The breakfast is listed as continental, Italian and gluten-free as well as buffet.
The weak point is sound. Guests say the windows block street noise well, but thin walls let through sounds from neighbouring rooms.
Price and how it compares with our other two picks
Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults came to about €138 per night, almost exactly the sample median of €138.57. These are not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Budget pick, Novotel Salerno Est Arechi, is four stars, scores 8.0 and cost about €123.10 per night, but it is around 6 km from the cathedral. Our Luxury pick, Hotel Centro Congressi Polo Nautico, is four stars, scores 8.8 and cost about €139.15 per night.
The three are close on price. What you get here for the money is the top guest score and the best location of the group, with one star fewer and fewer facilities.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 6 eligible hotels in Salerno. The Best Value slot balances guest score, review count and reference price. A 9.0 from more than 1,400 reviews, a 9.7 for location and a price at the median made this an easy choice.
Before you book
Check whether breakfast is included in your rate. Room size, renovation condition and cancellation terms have not been assessed, so read the room description and the policy carefully.
If noise bothers you, ask for a quiet room away from lifts and pack earplugs. If you arrive by car, confirm parking options in advance because none are listed.
