Hotel Thermes Les Ecureuils-Dax is a good booking for travellers who want a clean, simple room a short walk from the centre and the thermal baths at the lowest price among our picks. Light sleepers should think again, because poor soundproofing is the most common complaint.

Spa-town visitors on a budget are the main audience. Guests like being close to the town centre, shops and the thermal baths, and they describe the rooms as spotless. Solo travellers and couples who mostly need a clean base will be content.
If you sleep badly with background noise, this is a risk. Guests report sounds from street traffic, thermal bath machinery and neighbouring rooms. People who want a pool, a spa or a restaurant on site should also look elsewhere, as none is listed here.
Location and getting around
The address is 1 Rue de la Croix Blanche. Dax Cathedral is about 0.4 km away, roughly 5 minutes on foot. That is a straight-line estimate and has not been verified, but it puts the hotel within easy walking distance of the centre.
Guests give the location 8.9 out of 10 and mention the short walk to shops and the thermal baths. Free parking is listed by the property, which is handy if you arrive by car. Confirm how many spaces there are.
What guests say
The score is 8.2 out of 10 from 936 reviews.
Two strengths stand out. Location comes first, with guests pointing to the central setting near the town centre, shops and baths. Cleanliness is the second: rooms and common areas are called spotless, well kept and tidy.
The clear weak point is soundproofing. Guests mention street traffic, machinery from the thermal baths and noise from rooms next door. Pack earplugs, or ask for a quieter room when you book.
Price and what you get, compared with our other picks
The reference price was €82.60 per night, seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults, about €165 for both nights. That was 13% below the median of the hotels we compared. It is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
This is a 2-star hotel with a short facilities list: free parking, free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour front desk. Breakfast is listed as continental. Whether it is included in your rate is not confirmed. Pets appear among the listed features, but check the policy and any fee.
ibis styles Dax Centre, our Best Value pick, costs €95.46 per night with an 8.1 score and 3 stars. Hotel & Spa Vacances Bleues Le Splendid, our Luxury pick, costs €99.32 with an 8.5 score and 4 stars. The gap is small here: for about €17 more per night you could move up to the 4-star Luxury pick with a higher score. Les Ecureuils wins on price and on the cleanliness praise, not on extras.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 3 hotels in Dax, a small field. After reserving the upscale slot, Les Ecureuils had the lowest eligible reference price, and its 8.2 score is slightly higher than our Best Value pick's 8.1.
