Hotel Yambu kathmandu is an easy yes for budget travellers who want Thamel on foot, a wide breakfast and staff who help with transport. It is less suited to anyone who wants a big-hotel feel or plans to base a stay around Boudha or Pashupatinath.

Backpackers, couples and trekkers passing through Kathmandu are the natural fit. At under €20 a night in our reference check, it is one of the cheapest well-reviewed options we found.
Guests value the help on offer. The team is described as friendly and professional, assisting with luggage, transport and local advice, which matters if you are arranging onward travel. Family rooms and free parking are also listed.
Skip it if you want 5-star comfort. This is a 3-star hotel, and our Luxury pick in the city is a better match for that.
Location and getting around
The address is Lekhnath Marg, Lainchour, Thamel. Guests describe a quiet street near the centre of Thamel, and the location score is 9.5.
Dharahara is 1.9 km away, about 24 minutes on foot. Pashupatinath Temple is 3.8 km, roughly 48 minutes, and Boudha Stupa is 5 km, about 63 minutes. Those last two are far, so budget for a taxi or public transport.
All of these are straight-line estimates and have not been verified. Real walking routes through the city can take longer.
What guests say
Hotel Yambu kathmandu scores 9.0 out of 10 from 1,657 reviews. That placed it joint sixth on review score among 17 eligible properties in our sample, a strong result at this price.
Two things stand out in reviews. First, the staff, who help with bags, transport and tips on the city. Second, the setting: a quiet street close to central Thamel, with rooftop views mentioned by guests.
Our data records no recurring guest complaints. That does not mean there are none, so read a few recent reviews before you commit.
