This three-star inn suits couples and short-break travellers who want character and walkability. Guests describe a historic neighbourhood near the university, within walking distance of shops and downtown.
A spa, restaurant, garden, terrace, free parking and air conditioning are listed, so you can stay in for an evening if you want.
Skip it if the bill is your main concern. Some guests call the rates reasonable, others find them expensive. Families should note that family rooms are not listed, and a gym is not listed either.
Location and getting around
The address is 36 Grand Avenue. Guests rate the location 9.3 out of 10, the highest of our three London picks.
St. Paul's Cathedral (London, Ontario) is 1.6 km away, about 20 minutes on foot. St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica (London, Ontario) is 1.7 km away, about 21 minutes.
These are straight-line estimates that have not been verified, so actual routes may take longer. Compared with our other two picks, which are 40 minutes or more from the same cathedrals, this is the easiest base if you plan to walk.

Opinions on value are split. Some think the rates are fair, while others find them expensive.
Price compared with our other two London picks
The reference price was €198.78 per night, about €397.56 for two nights. These are reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 (10 to 12 Nov) for 2 adults in one room, not live quotes. The sample median was €152.58, so this sits above it.
Staywell Inn & Suites, our Budget pick, was €110.84 per night with 8.7. Comfort Suites, our Luxury pick, was €115.65 with 8.8.
Unusually, our Best Value pick costs more than our Luxury pick here: €83.13 more per night than Comfort Suites and €87.94 more than Staywell. What you get for that is the top guest score, a listed spa and restaurant, and a walkable location. Check today's price for your dates.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 9 eligible properties in London, Ontario. The Best Value slot weighs guest score, number of reviews and reference price, so it is not necessarily the cheapest option.
Idlewyld's 9.2 score, the best in the sample, and its strong location rating carried it into the slot despite the higher price.
