J Resort
By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.
A good pick if you want a clean, modern room downtown with free parking listed, for little more than the Budget option costs. Skip it if cigarette smoke bothers you, because guests say the casino is often smoky.

J Resort works for road-trippers, couples on a weekend away and anyone who wants downtown Reno on foot without paying top prices. A pool, gym, restaurant, free parking, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning are listed, and the data also tags it for spa facilities.
People sensitive to smoke should be careful. The casino is the one area guests criticise, describing it as frequently smoky. If you are not interested in gambling and want a smoke-free feel, check where the casino sits relative to the rooms and entrances.
Location and getting around
The address is 345 North Arlington, in downtown Reno. Location scores 8.8 out of 10. Guests describe a central setting within walking distance of restaurants and the train station.
Saint Thomas Aquinas Cathedral is about 0.4 km away, roughly 5 minutes on foot. The National Automobile Museum is about 0.9 km, around 11 minutes. Reno Nevada Temple is a different matter: about 6.9 km and roughly 86 minutes on foot, so you will need a car, taxi or public transport. All times are straight-line estimates.
What guests say
J Resort scores 8.4 out of 10 from 1,336 reviews, a large sample. Cleanliness gets the most praise: rooms are called spotless, modern and well maintained throughout. The central location is the other recurring positive.
The casino draws mixed comments. Guests like its modern look and the range of slot machines, but say it is often smoky and has limited table games. Serious table players may find more choice elsewhere.
Price and how it compares with our other picks
The reference price was about €98.62 a night, around €197 for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults. It is not a live quote. Check today's price for your dates.
Aiden by Best Western South Reno, our Budget pick, was about €94.45 a night with an 8.3 score and three stars. Whitney Peak Hotel Reno, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, our Luxury pick, was about €287.63 a night with an 8.6 score and four stars. For about €4 more a night than the Budget pick you get a slightly higher score and a downtown address. The Luxury pick scores a little higher but costs almost three times as much.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 9 eligible hotels in Reno. Our Best Value slot balances guest score, review count and price. J Resort placed joint fourth of the 9 on guest score, but its review count is high and its price was 58% below the sample median of €235.54 a night.
That gap, combined with a solid score from a large number of reviews, is what earned it the slot.
