Lamego Hotel & Life is worth booking if you want pools, a spa and a walkable base near the cathedral at a mid-range price. If you only care about score per euro, our Budget pick in Lamego scores higher for less.

We may earn a commission if you book. It never changes our pick.

Who it suits and who should skip it

This is our Best Value pick for Lamego. It is a 4-star hotel on Rua de São João. It suits couples and families who want facilities to use between outings: a spa, a gym, a pool, a garden and a terrace are listed, along with family rooms. Free parking is listed too, handy for touring the area by car.

Skip it if dinner on site matters a lot to you, since guests find the restaurant menu limited and service slow. Skip it also if you want the lowest price for the highest score. More on that in the price section below.

Location and getting around

The address is Rua de São João. Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral, Lamego, is 0.9 km away, about 11 minutes on foot. That walking time is a straight-line estimate, so the real route may take a little longer.

The cathedral is the only sight in our data, so we cannot give distances to other places. Check a map for anything else on your list. Guests rate the location 8.7 out of 10, good but the lowest of the scores we hold for this hotel.

What guests say

The score is 9.0 out of 10 from 2,020 reviews, a large base. The pools get specific praise: a large outdoor area with comfortable loungers and a clean, heated indoor pool. Staff are described as friendly, professional, attentive and helpful.

The restaurant draws mixed comments. Guests like the dishes and the views from it, but say the menu is limited and service can be slow. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed by us.

Price and what you get, compared with our other Lamego picks

The reference price was €149.10 per night, about €298 for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults. The sample median was €131. It is a reference price seen for those dates, not a live quote. Check today's price for your dates.

Breakfast is listed as continental. Whether it is included in your rate is not confirmed, and neither are pool and spa hours or fees.

Here is the honest comparison. Delfim Douro Hotel, our Budget pick, is also 4 stars, scores 9.3 and was €98 per night. Pacheca The Wine House Hotel e Spa - Quinta da Pacheca, our Luxury pick, has 5 stars and 9.4 at €206.50. So this hotel is neither the cheapest nor the highest rated. Its case rests on the pools, the spa, the walk to the cathedral and a very large number of reviews.

Why it made our top 3

We compared 7 eligible hotels in Lamego. Our Best Value slot balances guest score, number of reviews and reference price, so it is not always the cheapest option. With 2,020 reviews and a 9.0 score, joint fourth of the 7, this hotel came out best on that balance.

Before you book

Check whether breakfast is included. Ask about indoor pool and spa hours in November, and any extra charge. Confirm free parking if you are driving.

If you plan to eat in, read recent comments on the restaurant first. Compare your dates against Delfim Douro Hotel too, since it may be cheaper. Read the cancellation terms, which we have not assessed.
