This is our Best Value pick for Lugano. It suits couples and city-break visitors who want to walk everywhere and who care about service. Family rooms and air conditioning are listed, and our data tags the hotel as pet-friendly; confirm pet rules and fees before booking.
Skip it if you are driving and want cheap parking, or if every euro counts. Guests consider both the room rates and the parking fees expensive, even if they rate the standards highly.
Location and getting around
The address is Piazza Cioccaro 5, in Lugano City-Centre. Guests rate the location 9.8 out of 10, and they describe a central spot in the old town near the lake and the funicular to the train station.
Our straight-line estimates put Lugano Cathedral at just 0.1 km, about 1 minute on foot, and MASI Lugano at 0.6 km, around 8 minutes. The Swiss Customs Museum is 5.5 km away, about 69 minutes on foot, so it is far. Plan on public transport or a taxi to get there.
What guests say
The score is 9.3 out of 10 from 1,798 reviews, joint first on review score among 11 eligible properties. That is a strong result backed by a big sample.
Location is the most common praise, followed by the staff, described as a friendly, multilingual team giving helpful and professional service. The weak point is price. Guests acknowledge high standards but call room rates and parking fees expensive.
Price and how it compares with our other Lugano picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, 10 to 12 November for 2 adults in one room, was €321.75 per night, about 9% above the sample median of €294.75. It is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
Ibis Lugano Paradiso, our Budget pick, was €141.75 with an 8.3 score and 3 stars. Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola, our Luxury pick, was €521.32 with a 9.3 score and 5 stars. LUGANODANTE matches the Luxury pick's guest score for about €200 less a night, which is why we see it as the value choice despite the high price.
Listed facilities include a restaurant, family rooms, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Breakfast details are not confirmed in our data, so check whether it is offered and included.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 11 hotels in Lugano. Our Best Value slot balances guest score, number of reviews and price rather than picking the cheapest room. A top score from almost 1,800 reviews at a price close to the median earned LUGANODANTE the place.
Before you book
Ask about the parking fee if you are arriving by car, since guests find it high. Check whether breakfast is part of your rate and read the cancellation terms. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed, which matters in an old town setting, so read recent reviews on those points.
