MACq 01 Hotel
By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.
Worth booking if you want Hobart's waterfront, five-star service and a very high guest score, and the budget allows it. Value hunters should look at our other two Hobart picks, which cost about half as much, and drivers should budget for paid parking.

Couples and travellers celebrating something will get the most from this one. It holds 5 official stars, a guest score of 9.4 out of 10 from 1,475 reviews and a location score of 9.9.
The property lists a restaurant, a fitness centre, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast choices cover continental, full English or Irish, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and buffet, so most diets are catered for.
Skip it if value is your main test. Guests describe room rates as high, and extra parking charges add to that. Our other two Hobart picks cost less than €155 a night.
Location and getting around
The address is 18 HUNTER ST, in the Hobart Central Business District. Guests describe a waterfront position within walking distance of restaurants, Salamanca Markets and the town centre.
Hobart Synagogue is about 0.7 km away, roughly 9 minutes on foot. The Tasman Bridge is about 2 km, around 25 minutes. The Museum of Old and New Art is about 9.8 km away, more than two hours on foot, so it is far and you will need public transport or a taxi.
Walking times are straight-line estimates and have not been verified. Guests mention valet service; check how it works and what it costs if you arrive by car.
What guests say
Location is the standout. Being on the waterfront with Salamanca Markets and plenty of restaurants close by is what people mention most.
The team gets credit for being friendly and professional, with helpful service and efficient valet assistance.
Value is the sore point. Room rates feel high to some guests and parking costs extra. Dining prices, on the other hand, are described as reasonable.
Price and how it compares with our other Hobart picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, for 2 adults in one room, was €290.88 per night, about €582 for both nights. This is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
That is well above the sample median of €203.12. Our Budget pick, Ibis Styles Hobart, was €123.08 a night with a score of 8.5. Our Best Value pick, Best Western Hobart, was €152.28 with 8.1. Both are 4-star hotels.
The extra money buys a fifth star, the highest guest score of our three Hobart picks and the waterfront position guests rate so well.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 8 eligible hotels in Hobart. This one tied for second place on review score, and its official five-star rating earned it our Luxury slot, where five-star hotels come first.
We picked it for quality and location, not for value. Its price is clearly above the local median.
