Who it suits and who should skip it

This is our Budget pick for Asti, and it is a four-star hotel, so the label is about price rather than standard. It suits rail travellers, since guests highlight how close it is to the train station, and anyone who wants to explore the historic centre on foot.

Families can consider it, as family rooms are listed. Guests also speak well of the reception team.

Skip it if a calm, well-stocked breakfast is important to you. Guests say the coffee machine is slow and items often run out.

Location and getting around

The address is Via Cavour 106. Guests rate the location 9.3 out of 10, describing a central setting near the train station and the historic old town.

By straight-line estimate, Asti Cathedral and the Torre Rossa are each about 800 metres away, roughly 10 minutes on foot. Both are an easy walk.

These walking times have not been verified. We have no confirmed walking time to the station, though guests describe it as near.

What guests say

The hotel scores 8.3 out of 10 from 812 guest reviews, a large sample. That placed it joint second of the 3 eligible properties we compared.

Location is the most praised point: central, near the station and the old town. Staff at reception are described as friendly, professional and helpful.

Breakfast gets mixed comments. The selection is varied, and the hotel lists continental, Italian, full English or Irish, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, Asian, American and buffet options. But guests say the coffee machine is slow and some items run out.

Price and how it compares with our other Asti picks

Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 (10 to 12 Nov), for 2 adults in one room, were about €107.60 per night, roughly €215 for both nights. The sample median was €170.30, so this was 37% below. These are not live quotes. Check today's price for your dates.

For that you get four stars, a restaurant, family rooms, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.

Our Best Value pick, Hotel Aleramo (4 stars, 8.1/10), was about €170.30 per night. Our Luxury pick, Le Cattedrali Relais by Laqua Collection (5 stars, 9.3/10), was about €488.56. In these dates the Palio was both cheaper and slightly better rated than the Aleramo, which makes it a strong option even beyond its Budget label.

Why it made our top 3

Only 3 eligible hotels were in our Asti sample, so the choice was narrow. After setting aside the upscale choice, the Palio had the lowest eligible reference price, €107.60 per night, backed by 812 reviews and a 9.3 location score.
