Our Budget pick for Ulm is a 4-star hotel at Silcherstrasse 38, on the Neu-Ulm side. It suits couples and city-break travellers who want a quiet riverside setting close to the centre, plus a good breakfast, without paying top rates. Family rooms and a gym are listed, and the property indicates pets are accepted.
Skip it if cleanliness is your deciding factor. Rooms are generally described as tidy, but some reviews mention dust, missed housekeeping or dirty bathrooms. Its guest score is also lower than our other two Ulm picks.
Location and getting around
Guests rate the location 9.2 out of 10. They describe a quiet riverside spot a short walk from the city centre and the cathedral.
By straight-line estimate, Ulm Minster is about 0.6 km away, around 8 minutes on foot. Söflingen Abbey is about 0.9 km, around 11 minutes. Elchingen Abbey is about 9.7 km, roughly 121 minutes on foot, which is far, so plan on public transport, a taxi or a car for that one.
Parking is not listed among the facilities. If you are driving, ask the hotel about options and costs.
What guests say
The hotel scores 8.5 from 2,333 reviews, joint sixth of 7 eligible properties in our sample. That is still a good score, but most hotels we compared in Ulm rated higher.
Guests like the location for its quiet riverside feel and the easy walk to the centre. Breakfast also stands out: a large buffet with fresh options, often served on a terrace with views.
The weak point is housekeeping. Rooms are generally tidy, yet some guests report dust, missed cleaning or dirty bathrooms. If that happens, raise it with reception early in your stay.
