Pousada da Costa

Easy to recommend for beach trips to Caraguatatuba: 4 stars, an 8.9 score from over 1,600 reviews and about €42 a night on our reference dates. Do not expect a polished luxury hotel, though, because guests flag old bathroom fixtures and tight showers.

Who it suits and who should skip it

Pousada da Costa fills our Luxury slot in Caraguatatuba because it has the highest official star rating among qualifying properties. In practice it is a well-reviewed 4-star pousada at a modest price, which makes it a strong choice for couples and families heading to the coast.

The property lists itself as beachfront and also lists a pool, a garden, family rooms, free parking, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Guests say it is close to the beach, the city centre, shops and restaurants.

Skip it if bathrooms matter a lot to you. Guests mention old fixtures, tight shower stalls and water temperature that is not stable. Skip it too if you picture marble lobbies when you read the word luxury; nothing in our data suggests that.

Location and getting around

The address is Av Arthur Costa Filho, 39, in Caraguatatuba. Guests rate the location 9.3 out of 10, and the beach, centre, shops and restaurants are what they praise.

Beachfront is listed among the property's facilities. We have not verified the exact walk to the sand, and we have no measured walking times to other sights, so open the address on a map to see the layout for yourself. Free parking is listed, which helps if you are driving along the coast.

What guests say

With 1,632 reviews and an average of 8.9 out of 10, this is the most reviewed of our three Caraguatatuba picks, and it placed joint second of 4 in our sample.

Praise centres on location, close to the beach and the centre, and on breakfast, a buffet described as tasty, with fresh fruit and basic items. The criticism is about bathrooms: old fixtures, cramped showers and water that does not hold a steady temperature.

Price and how it compares with our other two picks

The reference price was €42.47 a night, about €84.94 for two nights, 21% below the sample median of €53.45. This is a reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room, not a live quote. Check today's price for your dates.

Here the usual order is reversed. Our Budget pick, Hotel Pousada Paradise, a 3-star rated 8.7, was €50.30 a night. Our Best Value pick, Hampton By Hilton Caraguatatuba Serramar, a 3-star rated 9.2, was €68. On those dates Pousada da Costa was the cheapest of the three. Prices on the coast shift, so compare all three on the day you book. If bathroom quality matters, the Hampton's 9.2 may justify its higher price.

Why it made our top 3

We compared 4 eligible properties in Caraguatatuba. Five-star hotels get priority for the Luxury slot; when none qualifies, a 4-star must score at least 8.5. Pousada da Costa holds 4 official stars and scores 8.9, so it qualified, with a large review base to back the score.
