Who it suits and who should skip it

This is our Budget pick for Chiang Mai. It suits travellers who want more than a bare room for very little money: the property lists a pool, a gym, free parking, a garden, a terrace and family rooms. Longer stays on a budget and families watching costs are a natural fit.

Skip it if you care a lot about bathrooms. Guests say they are spacious and clean, but the fixtures are dated and the water temperature can be unstable. Skip it too if you want to walk out of the door straight into the temples of the Old City.

Location and getting around

The address is 121/1-5 Soi Viangbua, Chottana Rd., T. Changpuak, A. Muang, in the Chang Phueak area. Guests rate the location 8.3 out of 10 and describe a quiet neighbourhood close to local markets, restaurants and convenience stores.

Wat Phra Singh is about 1.9 km away, around 24 minutes on foot. Wat Chedi Luang is 2.2 km, about 28 minutes. Both are walkable, though the heat can make that harder. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is 6.2 km away, around 78 minutes on foot, which is far: you will need a taxi or other transport.

Walking times are straight-line estimates and have not been checked on the ground.

What guests say

The score is 8.6 out of 10 from 3,515 reviews. That is a big sample, so the number is reliable. In our comparison it ranked joint tenth of 15 eligible properties on score, which tells you there are higher-rated hotels in the city at higher prices.

Staff get the most praise: friendly, helpful and accommodating, with a warm welcome. The quiet street and the nearby markets and shops also come up often.

The main weak point is the bathroom, as noted above. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed by us.

Price compared with our other Chiang Mai picks

The reference price was €27.53 a night, about €55 for two nights. It is the reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room, not a live quote. Check today's price for your dates.

The sample median in Chiang Mai was €112.00 a night, so this came in about 75% below it. Our Best Value pick, POR Santitham, was €47.66 a night with a score of 8.8 and is a little closer to the temples. Our Luxury pick, Maladee Rendezvous Hotel Chiang Mai, was €310.60 a night with a score of 9.6.

For about €20 a night less than POR Santitham you get a similar package with a gym added, at the cost of a slightly lower score and a few more minutes of walking.
