This is our Luxury pick in Johannesburg. It suits couples and business travellers who want a calm, secure neighbourhood, a 5-star hotel with a spa and pool, and quick access to the airport. Guests rate it 9.4 out of 10, though from a smaller pool of 446 reviews.
Skip it if you want to walk to the city's landmarks, since they are all far away. Travellers watching their budget should also look at our Best Value pick, which scored almost the same for a lot less.
Location and getting around
The hotel is at 84 Van Buuren Road in Bedfordview. Guests describe a safe, quiet area near shopping malls and a short drive from the airport. The location score is 9.4.
The sights in our data are all far. Ellis Park Stadium is about 8.4 km away, roughly 105 minutes on foot as a straight-line estimate. Hillbrow Tower is 9.3 km (about 116 minutes) and Nelson Mandela Bridge 11 km (about 138 minutes). For all of them, plan on a taxi or other transport. Free parking is listed, which helps if you rent a car.
What guests say
Staff are the main highlight. Guests describe a friendly, professional team, helpful service and a warm welcome. The quiet, safe setting is the other recurring positive.
The pool draws the only common criticism. The garden setting is called serene, but some guests found the water cold and the pool small. Room size, noise and renovation condition have not been assessed, so read recent reviews for the room you choose.
Price and what you get
Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults were about €256.84 per night. These are not live quotes. Check today's price for your dates.
Compare that with our other two picks. BlackBrick Sandton Two, the Budget choice, was about €53.24 a night with an 8.0 score and 4 stars. Home Suite Hotels Rosebank, the Best Value choice, was about €153.62 with 9.3 and 4 stars. You pay roughly €103 more per night than the Best Value pick for a fifth star, the spa and the Bedfordview setting, while the guest scores are almost level.
Listed facilities include a gym, spa, pool, restaurant, free parking, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a garden and a terrace. Breakfast type is not confirmed in our data, and neither is whether it is included in your rate.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 16 eligible hotels in Johannesburg. Zevenster shares second place on guest score. Our Luxury slot prioritises official 5-star hotels, and this one pairs that rating with a 9.4. The smaller number of reviews is worth keeping in mind.
Before you book
Ask whether breakfast is included and what type is served, since that is not confirmed. Read the cancellation terms, which have not been assessed. If the pool matters to you, ask whether it is heated. Arrange airport and city transport in advance, and check spa opening times and fees for your dates.
