This is our Budget pick for Ipswich, and it ties for the best guest score in the sample. It suits travellers arriving by train, people going to a match, and anyone who wants a gym, air conditioning and a broad breakfast list at a lower price.
Skip it if you are driving and need a guaranteed space. Families should also note that family rooms are not in its listed facilities, so check room options before booking.
Location and getting around
The address is Ranelagh Road. Guests say it is a short walk to the train station, the town centre and the football ground, and the location score is 8.7 out of 10.
St Pancras Church, Ipswich is about 1.4 km away, around 18 minutes on foot. Christchurch Park is about 1.7 km and 21 minutes. Both are comfortable walks. These are straight-line estimates, so real routes may take a little longer.
What guests say
B&B HOTEL Ipswich scores 8.6 out of 10 from 2,503 reviews, joint 1st of 6 eligible properties. That is a strong result backed by many reviews.
Guests like the location close to the station, the centre and the football ground. They also call the rates affordable for the amenities provided.
Parking is the main complaint. Spaces are limited and cramped, and guests often have to use car parks off site. Check costs and distances before you arrive by car.
Price and how it compares with our other two picks
We saw a reference price of €133.76 per night for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room, about €268 in total. That was 14% below the sample median of €156.26. It is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
Here the gap between picks is small. Our Luxury pick, Novotel Ipswich Centre, was €137.44 with the same 8.6 score, only about €4 a night more. Our Best Value pick, Milsoms Kesgrave Hall, was €166.81 with 8.5, but it is far from town. Compare B&B and Novotel on the day you book, since a few euros can swing either way.
Listed facilities include free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, a fitness centre, air conditioning and a terrace. Breakfast options listed are continental, full English or Irish, vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free and buffet. Inclusion is not confirmed.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 6 eligible properties in Ipswich. After setting aside the upscale choice, this one had the lowest eligible reference price, and it also shares the top guest score.
A budget hotel that also leads on reviews is rare, and that is why it earned the slot.
