This 4-star hotel works for city-break travellers who want to walk to the centre and keep the bill down. Guests describe a central position near the market square, the river and the John Frost Bridge.
It also suits people who like to keep up a routine on the road. The property lists a gym, a restaurant, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
Skip it if your trip is mainly about the Open Air Museum, Burgers' Zoo or the Veluwezoom park. All three are far on foot, so you will spend time on transport either way. And if breakfast is the highlight of your morning, note the mixed comments below.
Location and getting around

The Netherlands Open Air Museum and Royal Burgers' Zoo are each about 3.7 km away, roughly 46 minutes on foot. Veluwezoom National Park is about 6.8 km away, around 85 minutes. All of these are far, so plan on public transport or a taxi.
Walking times are straight-line estimates and have not been verified. Real routes tend to be longer.
What guests say
The hotel scores 8.2 out of 10 from 3,750 reviews. Guests like the central location and a friendly, helpful team that handles check-in efficiently.
Breakfast divides opinion. Guests like the fresh egg dishes and the variety on the continental and buffet spread, but some say items are not replenished or are mediocre. If breakfast matters to you, read recent reviews on this point.

Why it made our top 3
We compared 6 eligible hotels in Arnhem. The Budget slot goes to the lowest eligible reference price once the upscale choice is reserved. The Bastion had it, and it was also joint second of 6 on review score.
A central location rated 9.0, a gym and a large review base make it a sensible low-cost pick rather than a compromise.
