This is our Budget pick in Modena. It suits sightseers who plan to spend most of the day out, since the cathedral and the Ducal Palace are both about 3 minutes away on foot. Train travellers also benefit: guests say the station is within walking distance.
Skip it if you want a polished, recently updated hotel. Some guests describe the facilities as dated and feel the price is high for what you get. The facility list is short, too: free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a 24-hour front desk. A spa, gym or restaurant is not listed.
Location and getting around
The address is Via Blasia 10. Modena Cathedral and the Ducal Palace of Modena are each about 0.2 km away, roughly 3 minutes on foot. The Galleria Estense is 0.5 km away, around 6 minutes. These are straight-line estimates. The location score is 9.5, which is high.
Guests mention shops and restaurants nearby and say staff helped with parking. On-site parking is not confirmed, so if you arrive by car, ask the hotel where to leave it and what it costs.
What guests say
The score is 8.1 out of 10 from 483 reviews. That put it joint fifth of the 5 eligible properties we compared, the lowest in the sample. The review count is large, so this is a reliable picture.
Location wins most praise: central, close to the train station, shops and restaurants. Staff are described as friendly and professional, helpful with parking and local tips. The complaint is value. Some guests find the rates fair, while others think prices are high for dated facilities.
Price and what you get compared with our other two picks
The reference price was €202 a night, about €404 for two nights. This is a reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults, not a live quote. Check today's price for your dates. It was 15% below the sample median of €239.
Our Best Value pick, Best Western Premier Milano Palace Hotel (4 stars, 8.9/10), was €239 a night. For about €37 more per night you get a fourth star, a spa listed and a score 0.8 points higher. Our Luxury pick, Hotel Rua Frati 48 in San Francesco (5 stars, 9.0/10), was €524.01, more than double. Libertà is the choice when saving that €37 matters more than room quality.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 5 eligible hotels in Modena. After reserving the upscale choice, Libertà had the lowest eligible reference price. Its location score of 9.5, among the best in the city, kept it in despite a lower guest score.
Before you book
Breakfast is not confirmed in the data, so check whether it is offered and included in your rate. Room size, noise, renovation condition and cancellation terms have not been assessed either.
Ask about parking options and fees if you drive. Look at recent guest photos to judge whether the dated feel some guests mention would bother you.
