This 5-star hotel has a 9.6 guest score from 888 reviews, second of the 30 eligible hotels in our Bolzano sample. Listed facilities include a spa, a gym, a restaurant, family rooms and free Wi-Fi. It suits couples marking an occasion, travellers who want spa time after a day in the mountains, and families who want space and service.
If price matters, this is the hardest pick to justify on numbers alone: it costs more than double the city median. Drivers should also budget for parking, which guests say is charged daily.
Location and getting around
The address is 4 Via Monte Tondo, 39100 Bolzano, Italy. Guests describe a quiet setting within a short walk of the historic centre, and the location score is 9.6 out of 10. The South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology is 0.9 km away, about 11 minutes on foot. Bolzano Victory Monument is 1.2 km, about 15 minutes, and Runkelstein Castle is 1.7 km, about 21 minutes.
All three sights in our data are within 30 minutes on foot, so you can see the city without a car. Walking times are straight-line estimates and real routes may be longer.
What guests say
Service is the strongest theme: guests describe a friendly, professional team giving attentive and helpful service. The quiet setting close to the centre is the other frequent positive. Breakfast is listed as continental, Italian, vegetarian, gluten-free and buffet.
The main gripe is money rather than comfort. Secure on-site parking is available, but guests dislike paying a daily charge for it on top of the room rate.
Price and how it compares with our other picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults was about €414.59 per night, around 117% above the €190.97 median of our sample. This is a reference price, not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
Goldenstern Townhouse, our Best Value pick, cost about €185.55 with a 9.4 score and an even more central spot in the pedestrian zone. B&B Hotel Bolzano, the Budget pick, cost about €114.84 with an 8.1 score, far from the old town. What the extra money buys at Castel Hörtenberg is a 5-star level, a spa, a gym, a restaurant and a quiet setting, plus the highest score of our three picks.
