Crowne Plaza Cleveland at Playhouse Square by IHG is our Budget pick in Cleveland. It suits theatre-goers, sports fans and anyone who wants to walk to downtown restaurants. Guests say the theaters, the baseball stadium and several museums are within walking distance.
Be clear about what Budget means here. At €205.03 per night it is not cheap in absolute terms, and it scored lower than most hotels we looked at. If you want a higher-rated stay, look at our Best Value or Luxury picks. If you are driving, the parking costs reported by guests may also change the sums.
Location and getting around
The address is 1260 Euclid Avenue, in the Playhouse Square area. Guests rate the location 9.2 out of 10, which is the hotel's strongest number.
Key Tower is about 0.9 km away, roughly 11 minutes on foot. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is about 1.4 km, around 18 minutes. The Cleveland Museum of Art is a different story: about 6 km, or 75 minutes on foot, which is far. Plan on public transport or a taxi for that one. All walking times are straight-line estimates, so real routes may be longer.
What guests say
The score is 8.2 out of 10 from 981 reviews. That large review count gives the score weight, but it placed joint ninth of 10 eligible properties in the provider sample, near the bottom.
The location wins the most praise, with easy walks to theaters, the ballpark, museums and restaurants. Staff at the front desk and the valet are described as friendly, helpful and professional.
Cost is the main complaint. Guests point to high valet parking charges and high room rates.

We compared 10 hotels in Cleveland. For the Budget slot we set aside the upscale choice and took the lowest eligible reference price. This hotel was that price, and it adds a central location with a high location score.
