By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.

Book it if you want Manchester's top-rated five-star in our sample and are happy to pay well over twice the city median. If value matters more than the category, our Best Value pick scores 9.0 for less than a third of the price.

Who it suits and who should skip it

Dakota Manchester holds an official five-star rating and a guest score of 9.2 out of 10 from 3,893 reviews. Among 16 eligible properties in our sample, it shared first place for review score.

It suits travellers marking an occasion, business visitors who want a five-star address, and anyone for whom a top-rated hotel is part of the trip. A restaurant, a terrace, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning are listed.

Skip it if price leads your choice. The gap to our other two picks is large. Families should also note that family rooms are not listed in our data, and breakfast details are not confirmed.

What guests say

Our data does not include summarised guest likes or dislikes for this hotel, so we cannot report specific themes. What we can say is that a 9.2 average across nearly 3,900 reviews points to consistently high satisfaction.

To get a sense of recurring complaints, read the most recent low-score reviews on the booking page before you commit. Look in particular for comments on room size and noise, which we have not assessed.

Price compared with our other Manchester picks

We saw €358.11 per night for 2 adults, about €716 for two nights. These are reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, not live quotes. Check today's price for your dates.

The sample median was €141.05, so Dakota cost about two and a half times the median. Our Budget pick, Roomzzz Manchester City, was €101.74 per night with an 8.2. Our Best Value pick, Cove Minshull Street, was €114.47 per night with a 9.0.

Put simply, Cove is 0.2 points behind Dakota on guest score at under a third of the cost. What the extra money buys here is the five-star category and the facilities that come with it.

Why it made our top 3

We compared 16 eligible properties in Manchester. For the Luxury slot we prioritise official five-star hotels, and only fall back to a four-star if it scores at least 8.5. Dakota is a five-star that also shared the top guest score in the sample, so it was a clear choice for this category.
