This is our Budget pick in Cardiff, a 3-star hotel that suits solo travellers and short stays. Guests say the compact rooms work well for one person.
Couples should think carefully. The most common complaint is that the rooms often feel too tight for two. Families should also look elsewhere, as family rooms are not listed in our data.
Location and getting around
The address is Station Approach, Saunders Road, in Cardiff Center. Guests say it is right next to the train and bus stations and near city centre shops and nightlife. The location score is 9.6 out of 10.
Cardiff Castle is about 0.7 km away, around 9 minutes on foot. National Museum Cardiff is about 1.1 km, roughly 14 minutes. Both are straight-line estimates.
Llandaff Cathedral is far, about 3.6 km and around 45 minutes on foot. Plan on public transport or a taxi for that one.
What guests say
The score is 8.3 out of 10 from 5,481 reviews. That placed it joint fifth of 9 eligible properties in the provider sample. With so many reviews, the score is a dependable guide.
Two strengths stand out. Location is the first: arriving by train or bus could hardly be easier. The second is the team, described as friendly and efficient with a warm welcome.
Room size is the weak point. Compact units are seen as functional for solo guests but often too tight for couples.
