A good budget choice if you arrive by train and want to walk to the old town in about 10 minutes for well under the city median. Couples or friends sharing a room who value bathroom privacy should check the room layout first.

Garner Hotel Bremen City by IHG is our Budget pick in Bremen. It is rated 4 stars and sits in Mitte, the central district. It suits travellers arriving by train, short city breaks and anyone who wants a big breakfast without paying luxury prices.
The main warning concerns bathrooms. Guests report glass walls with little privacy and an open shower that often floods the floor. If you share a room with a colleague or a friend, or simply dislike that layout, this is a real drawback. Families can look at the listed family rooms, but check the bathroom setup there too.
Location and getting around
The address is given as Bürgermeister-Smidt-Straße 24-30 in Mitte. Guests say it is close to the train station and a short walk to the old town, and the location score is 8.6 out of 10.
Bremen Cathedral and the Bremer Marktplatz are each about 0.8 km away, roughly 10 minutes on foot. Kunsthalle Bremen is 1.1 km away, about 14 minutes. All three are walkable, so most visitors will not need transport for the main sights. These times are straight-line estimates and have not been verified.
What guests say
The guest score is 8.2 out of 10 from 804 reviews. That placed it joint 5th of the 6 hotels we compared, so it is chosen for price and position rather than the highest rating.
Two points come up again and again. Guests like the central spot near the station and old town. They also praise the breakfast: a large buffet with fresh options and good bread. The criticism is all about the bathroom design described above.
Price and value compared with our other picks
Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, for 2 adults in one room, were about €75.70 per night. That is 24% below the sample median of €99.01. These are not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
STAYERY Bremen Altstadt - alle Zimmer mit Klimaanlage, our Best Value pick, was €94.22 per night with a score of 8.8. Parkhotel Bremen – ein Mitglied der Hommage Luxury Hotels Collection, our Luxury pick, was €194.65 at 5 stars, also scoring 8.8. Spending about €18 more per night moves you to a noticeably higher score at STAYERY. If price is the priority, the Garner saves you that money and keeps you within a 10 minute walk of the Marktplatz.
Listed facilities are free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a 24-hour front desk and family rooms. The tags suggest pets are accepted, but conditions and fees are not confirmed.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 6 eligible hotels in Bremen. The Garner had the lowest eligible reference price once the Luxury pick was set aside. Combined with a location score of 8.6 and a well liked breakfast, it is the sensible low-cost base in the centre.
Before you book
