This three-star Holiday Inn sits at Newton Park, Coatham Mundeville. Guests give it 8.2 out of 10, and that score rests on 683 reviews, the kind of volume that makes it reliable.
It suits road travellers, business visitors and families with a car. Free parking and family rooms are listed, and the property is tagged as pet-friendly, though pet rules are not confirmed.
Light sleepers should think carefully. Guests mention creaking floorboards from upper floors and slamming doors. If you need a quiet night, ask for a top-floor room or look elsewhere.
Location and getting around
Guests rate the location 8.7 out of 10. The name points to junction 59 of the A1(M), so check your route if you are driving in. Walworth Castle, the only sight in our data, is about 6.3 km away, roughly 79 minutes on foot. That is far, so plan on a car or a taxi.
Our data does not give a walking time to Darlington town centre. Walking times shown are straight-line estimates and have not been checked on the ground.
What guests say
Staff come up first: friendly, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast is the other favourite, with guests praising a tasty hot and cold selection and plenty of variety.
The main complaint is soundproofing. Creaking floorboards above and slamming doors cause disturbance for some guests. Room size and room condition have not been assessed in our data.
Price and how it compares with our other Darlington picks

The Holiday Inn's strengths are the larger review base, a gym, a restaurant, free parking and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast options listed include continental, full English, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and buffet. Whether breakfast is included is not confirmed.
Why it made our top 3
