Travellers who want a reliable, central base with a gym and restaurant will be well served. The hotel scores 8.6 out of 10 from 1,327 reviews, joint top of the 7 hotels we compared, and its location score is 9.1.
Families can consider it, since family rooms are listed. Pets are also tagged in the listing, though the terms are not confirmed.
Skip it if you are driving and on a tight budget. Some guests find parking and bar prices high, and the reference rate here was well above the city median.
Location and getting around
The address is given as Morledge, in central Derby. Guests describe a central position near shops, the river and public transport links.
Derby Museum and Art Gallery is about 0.4 km away, roughly 5 minutes on foot. Pickford's House Museum is about 0.9 km, around 11 minutes. Pride Park Stadium is about 1.9 km, close to 24 minutes, which is still walkable for most people.
Walking times are straight-line estimates and have not been verified, so allow a bit more on real streets.
What guests say
Location and staff get the most praise. Guests call the team friendly, helpful and polite, and say the welcome is warm.
Value gets a more mixed reaction. Many think the price is reasonable, but some feel parking and bar prices are high. If you plan to park, check the parking fee before you arrive.
Price and what you get against our other Derby picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, for 2 adults in one room, was €308.33 per night, roughly €617 for both nights. That is not a live quote, so check today's price for your dates.
It sat well above the sample median of €215.16. Our Budget pick, Aston Court Derby City Centre by Belvilla, was €83.06 a night with 8.1 and 4 stars. Our Best Value pick, Holiday Inn Express Derby Pride Park by IHG, was €259.95 with 8.6 and 3 stars.
The comparison with the Express is the useful one. Both score 8.6, so the extra €48 or so a night here buys the fourth star, a restaurant, a gym and a central location rather than the Pride Park side of town. Breakfast is listed as full English, vegetarian, vegan and buffet, but inclusion depends on your rate.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 7 eligible hotels in Derby. Our Luxury slot goes first to five-star hotels; where none fits, a four-star hotel needs a score of at least 8.5. This one has 4 official stars and 8.6, and shared the top review score in the sample.
It is picked for quality and location, not for price.
