Yes, book it if you want the cheapest of our three Ponferrada picks and a spot right on the town square near the castle. Light sleepers should think twice, because thin walls are the main complaint.

Hotel Aroi Bierzo Plaza is our Budget pick for Ponferrada. It suits travellers who want to be in the middle of things for a low price: guests say it sits on the town square near the castle, historic sites and restaurants. Families can look at the listed family rooms, and there is a restaurant on site.
Skip it if you need silence to sleep. Guests report thin walls, with noise from neighbours, slamming doors and hallways reaching the rooms. If that worries you, our Best Value pick costs only a little more.
Location and getting around
The address is Plaza del Ayuntamiento, 4. Guests rate the location 9.6 out of 10, the highest of our three Ponferrada picks.
Guests describe it as on the town square, near the castle and local restaurants. We do not have measured walking times to the castle or other sights, so treat these as guest impressions and check the distances on a map.
Parking and public transport options are not confirmed in our data. If you are arriving by car, ask the hotel where to park near the square.
What guests say
The score is 8.3 out of 10 from 1,910 reviews. Guests like the location and a friendly, professional team that offers helpful advice and efficient service throughout the stay.
The clear negative is soundproofing. Several guests say thin walls let in noise from neighbours, doors and corridors. Earplugs may help, and you can ask for a quieter room when booking, though we cannot confirm one will be available.
Price and how it compares with our other Ponferrada picks
The reference price was €64 a night, €128 for two nights. It is a reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults in one room, not a live quote. The sample median was €77.88, so this sat about 18% below it. Check today's price for your dates.
Hotel Aroi Ponferrada, our Best Value pick, was €69 with the same 8.3 score and 4 stars. AC Hotel Ponferrada by Marriott, our Luxury pick, was €79.47 with 8.7 and 4 stars. The three are close in price, so a few euros more buys an extra star or a higher score.
A buffet breakfast is listed. Whether it is included in your rate is not confirmed.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 5 eligible hotels in Ponferrada. Our Budget slot goes to the lowest eligible reference price once the upscale choice is set aside, and at €64 this hotel took it. It also shared second place on review score, with a large review count behind it.
Before you book
Room size, renovation condition and cancellation terms have not been assessed. Noise is a known issue, so read recent reviews and ask the hotel about quieter rooms.
Confirm breakfast terms and restaurant opening times for your dates, and ask about parking if you are driving.
