Hotel Grotta Palazzese
By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.
Book it only if you specifically want this 5-star hotel and its 9.9-rated location, and the price is not a concern. For almost everyone else, our Best Value pick matched its 8.9 score at a small fraction of the cost.

This is our Luxury pick in Polignano a Mare. It suits travellers marking a special occasion who want a 5-star hotel with a top location score and are ready to pay a very high rate. The property lists a restaurant, free parking, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
Most travellers should skip it on price. On the reference dates it cost roughly 13 times our Best Value pick, which has the same guest score. If you want a comfortable, well-rated room in town, start with our other two picks.
Location and getting around
The address is Via Narciso, in what the listing calls the top-rated area of Polignano a Mare. Guests give the location 9.9 out of 10, the highest figure in its data.
Beach access appears among the provider facilities, but that does not confirm a beachfront position or a walking distance to the sand. Check the map before you book if that matters.
The nearby sights in our data are out of town. Monopoli Cathedral is about 8.5 km away and Conversano Castle about 9.3 km. Straight-line walking estimates are 106 and 116 minutes, so both are far, and you will need a car, taxi or public transport. Free parking helps if you drive.
What guests say
The hotel scores 8.9 out of 10 from 116 reviews, joint first of 4 eligible properties in our sample. That is a strong score, but 116 reviews is a modest base, so treat it with some caution.
We do not have a summary of guest likes or dislikes for this hotel. At this price, read recent reviews closely before you commit, paying attention to comments on rooms, noise, service and value.
Price and value against our other picks
Reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, for 2 adults in one room, were about €1,241 per night. The sample median was €127.50. These are not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
Our Budget pick, Tuo Hotel, scored 8.3 at about €89 per night. Our Best Value pick, San Tommaso Hotel, scored 8.9 at about €96 per night.
The gap is stark. San Tommaso Hotel matched this hotel's guest score for about €1,145 less per night. What you pay for here is the 5-star category and the location, which guests rate 9.9. Whether that is worth it is a personal call, but go in with clear eyes.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 4 hotels in Polignano a Mare. The Luxury slot goes to a five-star hotel first, and a four-star can only fill it with a score of at least 8.5.
Hotel Grotta Palazzese is an official 5-star hotel, it tied for the top guest score in the sample and it has the highest location score in its data. That earned it the Luxury place, despite the price.
Before you book
Breakfast is not confirmed in our data, so check whether it is included in your rate. At over €1,200 a night, that detail matters.
Room size, views, noise, renovation condition and cancellation terms have not been assessed. Read the room description carefully, confirm exactly what your rate includes and check the cancellation policy before paying. Ask about restaurant opening times for your dates too.
