It suits city-break travellers who want to be downtown, near shopping and transport, and still sleep in a quiet building. Guests say it stays calm inside despite the central spot. Drivers get free parking, and family rooms are listed.
Skip it if you expect full-service facilities. It is an officially 2-star property, and its 9.0 score rests on 269 reviews, a fairly small base. Some guests also mention bathroom issues, covered below.
Location and getting around
The address is 21-8, Dongseong-ro 2-gil, Jung-gu, and the location score is 9.6.
Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral, Daegu is about 0.7 km away, roughly 9 minutes on foot. Daegu National Museum is about 4.5 km, around 56 minutes, and Daegu Samsung Lions Park is about 8.3 km, around 104 minutes. Both are far, so plan on public transport or a taxi.
All of these are straight-line walking estimates and have not been checked on the ground.
What guests say
Hotel Insomnia scores 9.0 out of 10 from 269 reviews.
Two themes lead the praise. The location is central, near shopping and transport, yet quiet inside. Breakfast gets credit for its variety, including fresh toast, ramen and both Korean and Western options. Listed styles are continental, vegetarian, Asian, American and buffet.
Bathrooms draw the main criticism. Guests describe them as spacious and well equipped, but some report wet floors and drainage noise. If you are a light sleeper, mention it when you book.
Price and how it compares
The reference price was €63.62 per night, about €127.24 for 2 nights. These are reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults, not live quotes. Check today's price for your dates.
That matched the sample median of €63.62 exactly. Our Budget pick, Toyoko Inn Daegu Dongseongro, cost €57.24 with an 8.6 score and 3 stars. Our Luxury pick, Daegu Marriott Hotel, cost €194.41 with an 8.6 score and 5 stars.
So for about €6 more per night than the Toyoko Inn, you get a higher guest score. The Marriott costs around three times as much and scored lower than Hotel Insomnia, though it carries 5 stars.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 5 eligible hotels in Daegu. The Best Value slot balances guest score, number of reviews and price, so it is not simply the cheapest.
Hotel Insomnia had the top review score of the 5, joint first, at a median price and with a 9.6 location score. The modest review count is the one caution.
