Hotel Sofia is worth booking if you want a cheap, central base a short walk from the Zocalo and the cathedral. Light sleepers should think twice, because thin walls are the main complaint.

This is our Budget pick for Puebla, a three-star hotel in Puebla Centro. It suits travellers who plan to spend their days on foot in the historic centre and want to keep the room cost low.
The property lists a restaurant, terrace, free parking, family rooms and free Wi-Fi, so it also works for road trippers and small families on a budget.
Skip it if you need a quiet night. Guests say sound from the street, the hallway and neighbouring rooms gets in.
Location and getting around
The address is 319 Avenida 3 Poniente. Guests describe a central setting near the Zocalo, the cathedral and restaurants within walking distance, and the location score is 9.3 out of 10.
Puebla Cathedral is about 0.5 km away, around 6 minutes on foot. Two other sights are much further. The International Museum of the Baroque is about 5.5 km away, roughly 69 minutes on foot, and La Constancia Mexicana is about 6.4 km, around 80 minutes. Both are far, so plan on public transport or a taxi. Walking times are straight-line estimates.
Free parking is listed. Confirm availability for your dates if you are driving.
What guests say
The score is 8.2 out of 10 from 2,583 guest reviews, a large sample.
Two strengths stand out. The location close to the main square and cathedral, and the staff, described as friendly and helpful, with a warm welcome and attentive assistance.
The weak point is soundproofing. Reviews mention thin walls that let in noise from the street, the corridor and the rooms next door. Earplugs are a sensible packing item here.
Price and what you get compared with our other picks
The reference price was 41.59 euros per night, about 67 percent below the sample median of 124.57 euros. These are reference prices seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults, not live quotes. Check today's price for your dates.
Our Best Value pick, Hotel Isabel, is a four-star at 56.78 euros per night with a score of 9.0. Our Luxury pick, Hotel Boutique Casareyna, is a five-star at 142.56 euros per night with a score of 9.4.
That makes the decision fairly clear. For about 15 euros more per night, Hotel Isabel scores 0.8 points higher. Hotel Sofia makes sense when every euro counts or when the cheaper rate frees money for food and trips. A continental breakfast is listed, but whether it is in your rate is not confirmed.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 15 eligible hotels in Puebla. The Budget slot goes to the lowest eligible reference price once the upscale choice is reserved, and Hotel Sofia had it.
It also brings a solid 8.2 from thousands of reviews and a 9.3 location score. Its guest score sits at the bottom of the 15 in the sample, so the case for it is price and position, not polish.
Before you book
Room size, noise levels by room, renovation condition and cancellation terms have not been assessed. Ask for a room away from the street, which may help with the noise guests describe.
Check if breakfast is included and confirm parking if you drive. Compare the live price with Hotel Isabel for the same dates, since the gap is small.
