Hyatt Place Blacksburg/University

By the Top3Hotels editorial team. Based on Booking.com guest scores and reviews, location data and reference prices. We did not stay at this hotel. Updated 2026-10-24.

Yes, it is worth booking for most visitors to Blacksburg: a 9.2 guest score, a buffet breakfast guests like and a price right at the local median. It suits university visitors and drivers; check your bill carefully, as some guests report billing errors.

Who it suits and who might skip it

Parents visiting students, people with business at the university and road trippers are the natural fit. Guests say it is close to the university and the highway, with restaurants and shops within walking distance. Free parking is listed, which helps if you arrive by car.

It is less obvious if you want a historic or character property. The hotel has 3 stars and its listed facilities are practical rather than distinctive. If you would rather sleep on campus, our Luxury pick costs only a little more.

Location and getting around

The address is 650 University City Blvd. Guests rate the location 9.6 out of 10. They mention the university and the highway nearby, plus places to eat and shop that you can reach on foot.

We do not have verified walking times to specific sights for this hotel. Before you book, check on a map how far your faculty building, stadium or meeting point is, and whether you will want the car for it.

What guests say

The score is 9.2 out of 10 from 830 reviews, joint second of the 7 eligible hotels we compared. That is a strong result with a large number of reviews behind it.

Breakfast gets clear praise. Guests describe a buffet with a wide selection, including fresh fruit, hot eggs and sweet spreads. The location is the other recurring positive.

The weak point is money, not the room. Rates are generally seen as fair, but some guests ran into billing errors or unexpected fees. Ask for a breakdown at check-in and look at your statement before you leave.

Price compared with our other two Blacksburg picks

The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026, for 2 adults in one room, was €98.47 per night, close to €197 for both nights. The sample median was €99.11, so this hotel sat about 1% below it. Treat these as reference prices, not live quotes, and check today's price for your dates.

The listed facilities are a gym, a pool, a restaurant, free parking, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. The listing also flags it as pet-friendly; any pet fees or rules are not confirmed.

Our Budget pick, Comfort Inn Blacksburg University Area, was €82.30 per night with a score of 8.1. Our Luxury pick, The Inn at Virginia Tech - On Campus, scored 9.1 at €101.06 per night. In Blacksburg the gap between the three is small. Hyatt Place earns its spot by beating the budget option by more than a full point for about €16 a night.

Why it made our top 3

We compared 7 eligible hotels. The Best Value pick is the one that best balances guest score, number of reviews and reference price, which is not always the cheapest. Hyatt Place combines a 9.2 score, 830 reviews and a location score of 9.6 at a median price. That mix was hard to beat.

Before you book

Confirm whether breakfast is included in your rate, since inclusion has not been assessed. Read the cancellation terms, especially around university events when demand can change. If you bring a pet, ask about fees in advance. Check the final bill line by line given the reported billing errors. Room size and noise have not been assessed either.

We may earn a commission if you book. It never changes our pick.
