The Inn at Virginia Tech - On Campus is our Luxury pick for Blacksburg. It suits visiting parents, campus guests, conference visitors and anyone with business at the university. Being directly on campus is the main reason people choose it.
Listed facilities include a gym, a restaurant, a garden, a terrace, air conditioning and free parking. Staff are described as friendly and professional.
Skip it if you want a resort with a spa or pool, since none is listed. Also skip it during major university events if cost matters; that is when guests report the biggest price jumps.
Location and getting around
The Inn is at 901 Prices Fork Road. Guests rate the location 9.7 out of 10, the strongest number on this page.
According to guest comments, it sits directly on the university campus and within walking distance of downtown shops and restaurants. Our data does not include walking times to specific sights, so check a map for the places you plan to visit.
Free parking is listed, which helps if you drive in. Confirm parking arrangements for your dates, especially during events.
What guests say
The score is 9.1 out of 10 from 943 reviews. That placed it joint third on review score among the 7 eligible hotels we compared.
The location gets the most praise, with guests valuing the campus setting and the short walk downtown. Staff come next: guests describe a friendly, professional team that helps and accommodates requests.
The complaint is about price timing. Rates are seen as reasonable in normal weeks, but they rise significantly during university events.
Price and how it compares with our other picks
The reference price was €101.06 per night, seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 for 2 adults, about €202 for both nights. The sample median was €99.11, so the price is right around typical for the city.
Our Budget pick, Comfort Inn Blacksburg University Area, is a 4-star hotel scoring 8.1 at €82.30 per night. Our Best Value pick, Hyatt Place Blacksburg/University, is 3 stars and scores 9.2 at €98.47 per night.
The gap to the Best Value option is under €3 a night on the reference dates. Here you pay for the campus address and the higher star rating rather than a better score. These are reference prices, not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 7 eligible hotels. Five-star hotels come first for the Luxury slot; when none qualifies, a four-star hotel can take it only if it scores at least 8.5. The Inn holds an official four-star rating and a 9.1 score, well clear of that bar.
Its location score of 9.7 and a review base of nearly a thousand opinions back that choice.
