Yes, book it if you want a full 5-star hotel in Medan with a strong breakfast and attentive staff for under €90 a night. Skip it if you mostly want a pool to relax at, since guests find that area dated and short on seating.

Travellers who want 5-star comfort at a mid-range European price will find a lot to like. Guests give it 8.9 out of 10 across 598 reviews, and the location score is 9.3. Business visitors and couples who care about breakfast and service are the clearest fit.
If your stay revolves around the pool, temper expectations. And if you only need a clean bed, our Budget pick costs less than a third of the price.
Location and getting around
You will find it at Jalan Putri Hijau No. 10. Gang Bengkok Old Mosque is about 1.1 km away, roughly 14 minutes on foot. Maimun Palace is about 2.5 km, roughly 31 minutes, and the Grand Mosque of Medan about 2.6 km, roughly 33 minutes.
All of these are straight-line estimates. The palace and the Grand Mosque are just over half an hour on foot, which counts as far in heat or rain, so a taxi or public transport is the sensible option for those.
What guests say
Breakfast is the standout. Reviewers describe an extensive buffet with a wide range of local and international dishes. Listed options include vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, Asian and American choices.
Staff come next, with frequent mentions of a friendly, helpful and attentive team. On the downside, the pool is large and has city views, but some guests say the area feels aged and lacks enough seating.
Price and value against our other picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 (10 to 12 November, 2 adults, one room) was €88.69 a night, about €177 for both nights. That is a reference, not a live quote. Check today's price for your dates.
Our Best Value pick, Four Points by Sheraton Medan, was €52.08 a night with an 8.8 score and 4 stars. The Budget pick, d'primahotel Kualanamu Airport Medan, was €26.64 with an 8.2 score and 4 stars. The JW Marriott scores only slightly higher than Four Points, so the extra €36 or so per night mainly buys the 5-star setting, the spa and the breakfast spread.
Facilities listed by the property are a gym, spa, pool, restaurant, free Wi-Fi and air conditioning. Whether breakfast is included in your rate is not confirmed.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 10 eligible properties in Medan. In the Luxury slot, five-star hotels come first. This one holds an official 5-star rating and its 8.9 ranked joint first of the 10 on guest score.
That pairing of top rating and top score, at under €90 a night, earned it the slot.
