Mapango Small Rooms is our Budget pick for Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It suits solo travellers and couples who plan to be out most of the day and mainly need a tidy room near restaurants and the old streets.
Skip it if you sleep lightly. The one recurring complaint is noise through thin walls. No official star rating is listed, and the facility list is short: free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a terrace. If you want a restaurant, breakfast or a reception desk, those are not confirmed here.
Location and getting around
The address is 5 Calzada la Noria, 38003 Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The location score is 9.2 out of 10, and guests describe a central setting near restaurants, the historic district and public transport.
Iglesia de la Concepción is about 0.1 km away, roughly a 1-minute walk. La Laguna is a different story. Real Santuario del Cristo de La Laguna is about 6.9 km away (around 86 minutes on foot) and the Cathedral of La Laguna about 7 km (around 88 minutes). Both are far, so plan on public transport or a taxi. All walking times are straight-line estimates.
What guests say
The score is 7.5 out of 10 from 454 reviews. Guests praise the central location and the cleanliness, describing tidy, organised and spotless spaces.
The weak point is soundproofing. Reviews mention noise from neighbours, hallways and staircases coming into the rooms. Among 23 eligible properties, its review score ranked 19th, so this is a pick driven by price and location rather than guest ratings. Pack earplugs if you book.
Price compared with our other two Santa Cruz picks
The reference price seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 (10 to 12 November, 2 adults, one room) was €65 a night, about €130 in total. That is 47% below the sample median of €121.52. These are not live quotes, so check today's price for your dates.
The Best Value pick, Emblemático F24-Only Adults B&B, cost €107.16 a night with a score of 9.2. The Luxury pick, Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey, was €162.80 with 5 stars and a score of 8.9. Both rate far higher with guests. At Mapango you save around €42 a night against the Best Value pick, and accept more noise and fewer services in return.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 23 eligible properties in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. After setting aside the upscale choice, Mapango had the lowest eligible reference price, at €65. Its 9.2 location score and the praise for cleanliness kept it in the Budget slot despite a modest overall score.
