This is our Budget pick for Vientiane. It suits backpackers, solo travellers and couples who spend their days out and only need a clean place to sleep near the centre. Staff help with transport bookings and speak good English, which is useful on a first visit.
Skip it if you travel with large luggage or want room to spread out. Guests say the budget rooms are compact with limited storage. The listed facilities are also short: a restaurant, free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour front desk.
Location and getting around

The Lao National Museum is about 0.3 km away, roughly a 4-minute walk. Patuxai is about 1.6 km, around 20 minutes on foot. Pha That Luang is about 3.3 km, roughly 41 minutes, which is far; use a taxi or other transport for that one.

What guests say
The score is 8.2 out of 10 from 656 reviews. Among the 15 eligible hotels we compared, that ranks joint 11th on score, so better-rated places exist. This pick is about price and location.
Two things come up again and again. The location is central, close to the night markets, temples and restaurants. And the staff are friendly, help with transport bookings and speak good English.
The main complaint is room size. Larger units exist, but the cheapest rooms are compact and storage is limited.
Price and what you get versus our other Vientiane picks
The reference price was €11.19 per night, seen for a 2-night stay in November 2026 (10 to 12 November) for 2 adults in one room. The sample median was €70.36, so this was 84% below. These are not live quotes. Check today's price for your dates.
Our Best Value pick, Phongsavath Boutique Hotel, was €38.31 per night with a score of 8.5 and 3 stars. Our Luxury pick, Crowne Plaza Vientiane by IHG, was €87.62 with a score of 9.2 and 5 stars.
So you save about €27 a night against the Best Value pick and about €76 against the Luxury one. In return you accept a two-star hotel, a smaller room and a basic facilities list. Continental and Asian breakfast options are listed. Air conditioning does not appear in the data we hold, so confirm it before booking.
Why it made our top 3
We compared 15 eligible hotels in Vientiane. After setting aside the upscale choice, Mixay Paradise had the lowest eligible reference price, while keeping an 8.2 from more than 650 reviews.
A 9.3 location score means the low price does not push you out to the edge of town.
Before you book
Room size, noise, renovation condition, breakfast inclusion and cancellation terms have not been assessed. Since guests flag compact budget rooms, compare room types and sizes on the booking page.
Confirm air conditioning, whether breakfast is in your rate and the restaurant's hours. If you need a transport booking, ask the front desk.
